Obituary For Timothy J. Becker

Deforest - Timothy J. Becker, age 73, passed away unexpectedly at his home of natural causes on April 23, 2024. Tim was born on October 14, 1950 in Madison, Wi the son of Byron and Kay Becker.

Tim graduated from UW Platteville where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural
Sciences. While at Platteville, Tim was a 5k record setter on the track team and he went on to win numerous races around Wisconsin throughout his life. He also spent countless hours biking long distances on his two wheeled companion, another passion of his.

Tim worked at Oscar Mayer in the Sanitation Dept. for over 20 years. His real love was raising his grass fed beef cattle who he truly devoted his life to, making them his first priority. He was happiest at home on his farm, growing his own food and living off the land. He never tired of being outdoors and enjoying his surroundings.

Tim often opened his home for family gatherings where many happy, fun filled memories were made. If any one of us, especially his parents, needed help with anything, Tim was there ready and willing to lend a hand.

Tim is survived by his siblings, John (Elizabeth) Becker, Joanne (Craig) Yapp, Sara (Bill) Marks, Kathy (Don Marvin) Foley, Tom (Alice) Becker, many beloved nieces and nephews, friends, relatives and 7 beef cattle whom he considered his family.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Byron and Kay, and his sister Mary (Bill Mabis).

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place in Tim’s honor at St. Peter Catholic Church at 5001 N. Sherman Ave on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 11am. Visitation will be held from 10am until the time of the service. Lunch will be served following the service. A private burial will take place with his family at a later date.

Tim will be remembered for his sense of humor, his unpretentious style, simple way of living and enjoying each day in his own way. We loved him for those qualities. Our hearts are heavy as we say good bye to our loving brother, uncle, cousin and friend. We will miss you each and every day…Thanks for all the great stories you left us with to never forget you.

Til we meet again….“Top o’ the mornin’ to ya”

So very sorry for the loss of Tim. Thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. I only had known him the past few years as a customer at Willy' street coop! I always enjoyed a hello or a little chat with! I did learn that he loved his farm, biking and his trucks! We will miss seeing him at the coop! Rest in peace Tim🙏💔🥲 Melanie

My mother contacted me from Madison and she read me the newspaper's notice of Tim's passing. We were both deeply saddened with the news. My 95 year old mother remembered so many things that Tim and I did over the years. May we first offer the Becker Family, as well as all of Tim's friends, our heart-felt condolences. May the Lord give you comfort. We were neighbors with the Becker family for several years. Tim and I spent countless hours at Lakeview Park playing basketball during the summer, hockey during the winter, and fishing / camp-outs down on Cherokee lake. As we got older, we always enjoyed trips down State Steet in the Becker VW. Brother John would let us come out to his farm and hunt pheasants with him. What a wonderful time we had ....including all the neighborhood friends also. One of the last things I did with Tim was to help him plant about 30 trees on his farm. We both commented it really did seem like work for us because we were reminiscing about our childhood and all the great times we had. It was great to be able to catch up with him! Makes it hard to say goodbye, Tim . May the Lord bless you and keep you close......and give you peace.

My big brother, a rabble rouser of sorts when we were younger... Marched to the beat of his own drum.! As he matured he became the most loyal, sensitive guy you could ever meet. He was a minimalist and did not strive for meaningless things. I so appreciate that he followed his own path and understand his love of running, biking, being close to the earth and needing solitude. We really did not expect him to leave us so soon!!💔 I thought we had years of spending some quality time together. He was an integral part of our family, was such a loyal son to his amazing parents. Rest in peace Tim, I know it may have been better for you to leave us and have peace and freedom, therefore I accept it. I will grieve your leaving and know that I'll see you again brother!! Forever in our hearts Tim Becker!❤️

Condolences to Tim's family. I can't say that Tim and I were best friends, but I still remember days at Lakeview Park playing basketball with the gang. Tim's dry wit and sense of humor were always worth the bike ride from my neighborhood. I still recall the great games and stories that went with them. Tim was never mean spirited but you never wanted to be under the hoop trying to get a rebound from him and his subtle elbows. 60 years ago and I can almost picture them like they were yesterday. Rest well, "Bakes." Rick Knoche

Tim helped train me in sanitation at Oscar Mayer. He showed me a couple tricks of the trade. He did that w/o getting anything for it. We did know each other previous to that. His help made my job much easier and faster, that way we could get to the card table, during work hours, lol. Thank you Tim!

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
