Obituary For Thomas Arthur Snell

Stoughton - Thomas Arthur Snell (68) passed away peacefully on September 26, 2023, with family and support staff lovingly by his side.

Born October 21, 1954 to Margaret Mary (Clark) and Kenneth Snell, Tom lived his rambunctious young life as the fourth of eight siblings. Diagnosed with a developmental disability at a young age, he spent his adolescence at St. Coletta's in Jefferson and Southern Wisconsin Center in Union Grove.

As an adult, Tom moved to Stoughton where he was supported to live in the community at various locations including Devonshire, McCarthy and Elvensted, and in the fall of 2020 he moved into his home on Lincoln Avenue where he would live with close friends that he loved. Tom was a member of the Stoughton community where he created many wonderful and close friendships with people of all ages. His kind soul and infectious laugh were appreciated by roommates and caregivers alike. He was described as easy to know and easy to love.

Tom worked a number of jobs including the Main Street Market in Stoughton and the Jennifer Street Market in Madison where he was respected by employees and customers. He also worked at the MARC Center in Stoughton where he was recently recognized for 50 years of service.

Tom liked watching all sports on television, and he personally enjoyed pool, bowling, and fishing. He received several Special Olympics ribbons and trophies throughout the years. Tom liked visits from his family, spending holidays at a sibling's home, family gatherings of any kind or just getting a call to discuss the day's events. He loved talking on the phone. Tom was always the first to offer a helping hand opening doors, carrying bags, checking your blind spot while driving, etc. His purpose was to make sure those around him were safe and comfortable.

Tom is survived by his siblings Judy (Bob Caulum) Snell, Jeanne (Frank) Guzzo, Kathy (Kevin Hammer), Michael (Susan) Snell, Kevin (Lorri Houston) Snell, Patrick Snell, and Bridget (Beth Hougen) Snell and several nieces and nephews. He's preceded in death by his mother and father; stepmother Joyce Snell; brother-in-law Phil Hubanks; sister-in-law Joan Maglio Snell and nephew PJ Snell.

A graveside service will take place at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Roselawn Cemetery in Monona, followed by a Celebration Of Life from 1-3 pm at the MARC Center, 932 N Page Street in Stoughton.

Immense gratitude to Community Living Connections staff (CLC), the Lincoln House family, the MARC Center and Agrace. Special thanks to Katie and Nick Byers, Dan Bednar and Chad Cartwright.

Donations in Tom's name may be sent to Community Living Connections in Stoughton, 135 West Main Street, Suite 203, Stoughton, WI 53589.

Happy Birthday Tommy Toes I will enjoy a slice of chocolate cake for you today . I miss you

I meet you feet 1st. Or should I say toes 1st . Once I got to tickle those toes and hear that laugh that filled my heart with joy I knew that day was going to be a good day. I was always told to pick on someone your own sizes. And keep your hands to your self. I couldn't help my self I have to tickle his toes more time.... then he'd pushed a fart out and said there that's for you . A backwards kiss. Man what I'd do for another backwards kiss . I miss you so much buddy

To the Snell Family, I remembering meeting your dear brother, Tommy, when Lorri and Kevin had a family gathering at their new house a few years ago. Tommy was so happy and just plain fun to be around! He had a twinkle in his eyes, and I could tell he fully enjoyed life. I could also tell how much his siblings cared for him and loved him. What a tribute to a wonderful family. With All Our Love, Terri (Houston) and John Kosobucki

To Tom's Family, I was just thinking today... I wonder if Tom would like to go out to dinner with us tonight. I know he'll be there in spirit with our family. Tom was always so bubbly & full of happiness. Loved to joke with everyone & also help anyone out who needs it. Tom went to church with us on Saturday evenings & he would be helpful & nice to everyone. One time Nick my son in law took him to the restroom during church. When they came back into the church & as he came past me, Tom slapped my butt! I never laughed so hard & he did too! What a guy! I'm never going to forget anytime going to see him, he'd be so surprised & say "Hey, Nick why didn't you tell me that that Pat was coming!" He would be so happy & smiling. What a positive, most loving & happiest guy I've ever met. You're going to be greatly missed Tom! Say hi to the gang up there. Vickie, Jon, Kyle, Marcia, & even Ron. Love you to heaven & back! Pat Carlsen.

Tommy Toes has to be one of the most beautiful souls I have ever meet . So helpful and jolly . Tom you will never know how much you have saved me from meeting you'r toes in the morning and that giggle that takes all the bad away to tucking those toes away for one more last giggle before you went to bed . Thank you for always being so helpful and loving to everyone no matter. I love you bucko and you will forever missed .

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

James S. | July 2020

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Michael M. | July 2020

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
