Obituary For Steven Donald Heiar

POYNETTE – Steven “Bando” Donald Heiar, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, after a short battle with cancer. Steve was born on August 27, 1951, in Madison, WI to Donald and Mary (Bodendein) Heiar where he grew up in rural Ferryville, working in the family cheese factory. Graduating from Richland Center High School, he went on to receive his degree in Mechanical Engineering before marrying the love of his life, Bonnie Lybek, on October 6, 1984.

He worked a full career for Budweiser before spending over 20 years at Harker Heating and Cooling in sales before retirement in 2016. Steve’s love of the outdoors guaranteed that you could find him with his family on Lake Wisconsin boating, putting in a “full day’s” work at the Slough, or trying to keep track of Bonnie’s next remodel project. He was an avid hunter, earned his nickname, Bando from playing softball, was an accomplished bowler, but most of all he was always there to lend a hand to a neighbor, friend, or stranger.

Steve is survived by his wife of 39 years, Bonnie; son, Ryan; mother, Mary; siblings, Tim (Anna), Kathryn (Mike) Williams, Glenn (Kathy), and Msgr. Donald Jr.; and brother-in-law, Jeff (Laura) Lybek. He is preceded in death by his father, Donald Sr.; and his brother, Russell.

A Private Mass of Christian Burial and Burial will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held with friends and family to honor a life well lived on April 7th; 1pm-4pm; Remi’s Thirsty Moose. N3135 Co Rd V, Poynette.

My sincere condolences to the entire Heiar family. I did not know Steve personally. However, I am a Richland Center native and childhood 'running mate' of "DJ" and my older brother Eddie was a classmate of Glen.

To the family of Steve Heiar: My family and I would like to express our sincere condolences to all of you. Our thoughts are with you at this time as well as our prayers! I grew up down the street from Steve and the Heiar clan. There was always something happening at that house! Usually, some crazy fun! I do remember Steve being really friendly, interested and caring (he was about 10 years older than me). I remember the same qualities of Steve at various gatherings I would see him at over the years. Steve is definitely one of the good ones! Cherish the memories! DAVID FINK and family!

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
