Obituary For Stephen John "Steve" Triggs

Stephen J. “Steve” Triggs, age 88, passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Kettle Park Senior Living in Stoughton. He was born on August 22, 1935, in Madison, WI, the son of William and Phyllis Triggs. Steve met his wife, Judy Clermont at the Vilas Zoo and they were married on October 20, 1956. They were together for 61 years when Judy passed away on May 26, 2018.
Steve served in the US Army for 2 years, becoming a Military Police Officer. He also served in the Army Reserves for 6 years. Steve was a master baker and owned and operated Triggs Bakery, along with his twin brother, Stanley. He was a member of Valley’s Baker Association and served on the Windsor Fire Department. Steve also volunteered as a little league coach and enjoyed being in bowling, softball, and golfing leagues. He was an avid weightlifter and loved walking and keeping fit.
Steve enjoyed showing people his craft of baking. He was always learning and teaching new ways to bake and creating new recipes.
Steve is survived by his daughter, Debra (Craig) Ball; sons, Stephen C. Triggs and David (Joe) Triggs-Smith; grandchildren, Chad Nesbit, Joel (Kelly) Nesbit, Gavin (Amy) Ball and Tanya (Troy) Wiedenbeck; great-grandchildren, Violet, Tatum, Olivia, Rockton, Ryker, Ronan, Lovelyn and Landin; brother, Phillip Triggs; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy; his parents, William and Phyllis Triggs; daughter, Karen (Ed) Nesbit; granddaughter, Trisha; grandson, Andrew; great-granddaughter, Jasmine and brothers, Donald, Raymond, Gregory and Stanley.
A Memorial Service with Full Military Honors will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024, at Ryan Funeral Home, Windsor/DeForest Chapel, 6924 Lake Road, with Father William Nolan officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to all of the staff at the Kettle Park Memory Care unit for the loving care they gave Steve over the last three years. They would also like to thank the staff at Agrace Hospice Care for the exceptional care they gave.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dane County Humane Society.
