Obituary For Sharon L. Pounders

Sharon L. Pounders, age 65, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024, at home with family by her side. She was born on August 25, 1958, to Arleigh and Bette (Bleck) Persinger. Sharon married Bill on May 27, 1978.

Sharon worked for the city of Madison Water Utility for 38 years, retiring in June 2015. She and Bill have owned Ten Pin Alley for 11 years now and she loved working alongside Bill during the good years and even the tough covid-19 years. Sharon bowled for over 60 years, even making it to the finals of the Coca Cola tournament in Wichita, Kansas in 1976. She also loved going golfing and gambling trips with her sister-in-law, Sue O'Brien and Thomas O’Brian and Bill’s parents, Bill Sr. and Judy Pounders.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 46 years, Bill; children, Chris (Rebecca James), Justin; granddaughter, Hayli; dog, Taz; mother, Bette Persinger; siblings, Sue, Carol, Mike (Troy Brown) and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her father, Arleigh Persinger.

A Funeral Service will be held at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Ryan Funeral Home, 220 Enterprise Drive, Verona, WI. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until the time of service at the Funeral Home. The family would like everyone to dress casually and if you have peach colored clothing to wear it. That was Sharon’s wish.

Flowers are okay, but donations to Leukemia Society and Latoya's Legacy are appreciated.

I knew Sharon at East High back in 1972. We had a biology class together. She sat across the room from me and was so beautiful, with a smile that lit the room, I was afraid to speak to her she was so beautiful! I'll be praying for her now, and for all her family and friends, that they may find comfort during this time. Faith is not about going to church every Sunday, faith is what gets you through times like this. Dave Lytle

Dear Family, Sharon has passed up to heaven way to early and my heart is sad that the family will be grieving such an amazing woman. I will remember her as a loving, kind and gentle woman with an easy-going character who would do anything for those she cared for. She was a joy to be around because always had such a good attitude and great ideas in most situations. I will always remember her from bowling(Northgate juniors) and traveling leagues in which I looked up to her and hoped I'd develop into a great bowler like her! Her love of everything bowling was amazing. I also remember many card games, camping and most of all her great desserts. Many times when I went to Bill and Sharon's home she was busy making cookies or some amazing delicious treat for the entire family. It smelled like fresh baked cookies often. Now who wouldn't like that right? Sharon was an amazing sister-n-law when I was married to Jay. I sincerely wish the family the comfort and love going forward. Sharon may you look down upon your family and provide them guidance as they are in pain and know that you were extremely loved and will be missed. Love, Diana

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

James S. | July 2020

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Michael M. | July 2020

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
