Obituary For Ryan E. Steele

Ryan E. Steele, 35, of Verona/Madison, died February 13, 2025, after losing his battle to mental health issues.

Ryan was born in Madison on July 9, 1989, to William (Bill) and Kim Steele. He grew up in a wonderful neighborhood in Verona. He made lifelong friends after graduating from Verona High School in 2007.

He proudly served his country from 2007 to 2011 in the United States Marine Corps. He served overseas during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2009. During his time home from boot camp, he met the love of his life, Kelsey. Together they had two beautiful children, Kya and Brayden. His legacy will live through his children with Kya’s long limbs and Brayden’s facial expressions.

Ryan enjoyed the outdoors, Friday fish fry’s, gaming, bowling, and spending time with family. He was a sports enthusiast including anything Packer and Badger related. You always knew what room he was in with the half-drunk can of soda left behind. He shared his sweet tooth with his children, especially for Sour Patch Kids. His children were the light of his life.

Ryan is survived by his parents, Bill and Kim, his brother Cory (Amanda) Steele, niece Scotlyn, nephew William, children Kya and Brayden Steele, and former wife Kelsey Steele. He leaves behind many extended family members, friends, and Marine Corps brothers.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or K9 for Warriors: k9sforwarriors.org

Ryan, I will forever remember the days hanging out in Verona with you, Derek and Max. The video games we played and the trips to the Mall. How you and max would come into world of variety when Derek and I would be working to cause chaos. I will also remember when I introduced you to Kelsey. You and her hit it off so well. Little did I know that your love would grow and one day get married and have 2 beautiful babies. 🩷 I will forever cherish these memories as they were some of my favorite childhood memories. I wish life would have turned out different for you but I'm glad our paths crossed. RIP 🩷

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
