Obituary For Ruth Ann Nelson
DEFOREST/LAKE WISCONSIN/SUN PRAIRIE – Ruth Ann Nelson, age 85, passed away on October 11, 2023, at her home with her loving family by her side. She was born on September 20, 1938, in Green Bay, WI to parents Harris and Gladys (Powers) Lamberg. Ruth was a graduate of Green Bay East High School. Ruth married John Wayne Nelson on February 6, 1960, and together they celebrated sixty-three years of marriage. She worked 25 years as an Executive Secretary for GTE, where she made many lifelong friends.
Following retirement, Ruth and John moved full time to Lake Wisconsin, enjoying summers on the river and winters in Florida. They always loved their time spent on the water. Ruth cherished spending time with her family. She enjoyed working in her flower gardens, bowling, and rooting for the Packers. She was 19 years of age when she saved up enough money and purchased Green Bay Packers season tickets. She was a tireless care giver for her husband for several years prior to his passing.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Julie (Jeff) Hellenbrand; grandchildren, Tony Hellenbrand and Megan (Josh Franz) Hellenbrand; siblings, Nancy Shelley, Tom (Pat) Lamberg, Rich (Shirley) Lamberg; sister-in-law, Laurie Lamberg; and son-in-law, Chris Hohlstein. She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Lisa Marie Hohlstein; parents; brother, Bill Lamberg, sister-in-law, Paula Lamberg, and brother-in-law, Glenn Shelley.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Agrace HospiceCare.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 17, 2023 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 6924 Lake Rd., DeForest, WI. Dearest Julie - I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your dear mother. I spent so much time at your home growing up and your mom was always so welcoming and kind to me (even when we listened to the American Graffiti soundtrack album over and over). Hi Julie, Sorry to hear about your mom!! I remember when we were kids playing in Monona. I named our parakeets after your mom and dad!! LOL! We used to live next door to each other in Monona as kids. I had two other sisters at that time Mary and Marcy my mom and dad were Donna and Paul. My dad worked at the bowling alley in Madison. I just wanted to reach out to you!!
