Obituary For Ronald Wendt

Verona, Wisconsin–Ronald “Ron” Allen Wendt, age 77, passed away on November 20, 2023 at UW Health University Hospital from complications due to glioblastoma. Ron was born on October 6, 1946 in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, the son of Robert and Mildred Wendt.

Ron was a loving husband, devoted father, and friend of the community. He was an Air Force veteran and 30-year employee of Ingersoll Milling Machine in Rockford, Illinois. He loved traveling across the U.S., meeting new people, sharing stories, and making silly jokes. He was passionate about helping his neighbors, taking care of his family (including the family dog, Rugby), sports, food, and politics. He was generous, kind, goofy, and loving.

Survivors include his wife Dolores Wendt, daughter Jennifer Wendt, son Ronald (Emily Fischer) Wendt, sister Darlene (Pete) Hunt, granddaughter Phie Wendt, and many other relatives and friends.

Ron was preceded in death by his father Robert Wendt, mother Mildred Wendt, many aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Per his wishes, Ron will be cremated, and a Mass of Christian Burial with then Full Military Honors, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 301 N. Main Street, Verona, with Monsignor Kevin Holmes presiding. A Celebration of Life will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass on Saturday at the church. A luncheon at the parish church will follow.

Ron leaves an incredible legacy behind and so much love that his family cherishes. He was a loving husband, wonderful father, adoring grandfather, and caring friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial donations be made to Badger Prairie Needs Network (food pantry) at the following site: https://bpnn.networkforgood.com/projects/209300-support-badger-prairie-needs-network

A special thanks to the Neuro ICU staff at the UW Hospital, and ‘the village’ of family, friends, and neighbors for their help, love, and support. To view and sign this guestbook, please visit: www.ryanfuneralservice.com

Delores. I just passed you walking up Gilman Street. I didn't stop because it was so cold and you were so bundled up. I came back on Gilman from Miller's to the library and I noticed all the vases of flowers in the window. I am so sorry for your loss. I hope Ron didn't suffer. I know he will be missed by many. You are in my thoughts and prayers. God bless and take good care. Diana Trowbridge

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
