Obituary For Ronald Marvin Shaw

MADISON/BARABOO- With heavy hearts, the family of Ronald Shaw announces his passing on January 5, 2016 in a Florida hospital after a brave fight against Lymphoma.

Ron was born to Marvin and Florence (Hauser) Shaw in 1937 in Madison, WI. After graduating from East High School, Ron spent two years with the US Navy. Upon return, he married his soulmate, Rita Schlimgen. Together they raised six (amazing) children. After a few short careers, Ron joined the Madison Fire Dept. in 1966 and also worked as an accountant for some small businesses in Madison and McFarland. In 1991 he retired from the MFD to begin his life with winters in Florida with some family and many friends and summers in Wisconsin with many family and some friends. Ron had many talents and hobbies including painting, wood carving and building. He shared these talents and will live on in his creations. He especially enjoyed camping and spending time with his family who gather often, laugh much and love sincerely.

Ron will be greeted in Heaven by his parents, Marvin and Florence Shaw; his in-laws, Joseph and Eleanor (Byrne) Schlimgen; and his sister, Judith.

He will be missed in life by his devoted wife of 55 years, Rita; their children, Terri Graffin, Pam Erickson, Tom Shaw, Sandy (Dale) Hilgendorf, Lisa (Tom) MacDonald and Paula (Tim Seiberlich) Shaw; his grandchildren, Jake Graffin, Alex and TJ Erickson, Britney and Grady Hilgendorf, and Keegan, Kobe and Kameron MacDonald. He also leaves behind a sister, Carol (Jerry) Wilson; and a brother, David (Diane) Shaw; as well as many in-laws, nieces and nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 15, 2016, at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, with Fr. Randy Timmerman presiding. Military honors will be held at the church following Mass. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Friday.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
