Obituary For Robert James "Bob" Klaas

Madison - Robert James “Bob” Klaas passed away at the age of 42 on March 28th, 2018 in Madison. Born on January 9th, 1976 in Madison, he remained a proud Madison resident his entire life. He graduated from Madison East High School in 1994 and from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1999, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Bob was always caring and had a servant’s heart. He spent countless hours giving back and volunteering his time to help others. He enjoyed deconstruction projects with Habitat for Humanity, and served his community at St. Paul’s food pantry, where he gained many friends and helped a lot of people. He enjoyed being goofy with his niece and nephews where he was affectionately named “Ba Ba”. He spent his free time playing cards with his family and friends, bowling, camping and playing darts. Bob was an accomplished athlete and set the one year wrestling pin record at Madison East with 21 pins.

He is survived by his father, Richard Klaas; siblings, Stacy Klaas of Madison and Scott (Nicole) Klaas of New Berlin; his niece, Samantha and nephews, Benjamin & Liam. In addition, Bob is survived by 14 aunts and uncles, 40 cousins and his cherished cats Calypso & Storm.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother, Ardi Klaas, and grandparents, Orlin & Eldeen Klaas of Livingston, and Arthur & Evelyn Basthemer of Mount Horeb.

A Celebration of Life will take place at 5 p.m. on Monday, April 2nd at St Paul’s Lutheran Church on 2126 N Sherman Ave, Madison 53704. Visitation will take place from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service. Dinner will immediately follow the service in the dinner hall at the church.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
