Obituary For Robert "Bob" Schutz
LODI/DEFOREST/LEEDS –Robert “Bob” W. Schutz, age 92, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at Our House Assisted Living in Lodi. He was born on April 6, 1931, in Portage, WI to Ervin and Margaret (Roberts) Schutz.
Bob married Edna Leistikow on August 21, 1954, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Arlington, WI and had 66 wonderful years of life together, prior to her passing on June 9, 2021. He was a lifetime member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church where he shared his faith with others through his words and actions.
Bob was a self-employed milk hauler, owner of two Texaco gas stations, one in North Leeds and one off Hwy 60 by the Interstate. Bob and Edna built the first electric heated home in the area, which he was very proud of. They enjoyed traveling every winter around the United States, to other countries, and on cruises. Bob enjoyed his “windshield time”. Bob was a member of the Arlington Lions Club and they (Edna) often delivered donated eyes for live transplants. Bob loved to help people in a very giving and humble way. He was an often-requested RSVP Driver for the DeForest Area Community and Senior Center giving medical rides for several years.
Bob loved visiting with family and friends, enjoyed playing cards and a friendly game of cribbage or dominoes. Many memories were made at the cottage on Lake Lawrence. He was known for making the best Tom & Jerry’s at Christmas time when they entertained many family and friends! Bob loved his coke and an Oreo cookie dunked in milk.
He is survived by his sister, Margo (Peter) Holzman and sister-in-law Maida Schutz, cousins Marge Kukuwich, Ann Kemnitz and David Roberts, as well as many special friends, nieces, nephews and their children. Much appreciated was the loving care given by nieces Sue Miller and Roxann Grinde. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, C. Joan Woodward and Sandra Radewan and brothers, Harold and Wallace Schutz and brother-in-law Gordon Radewan. His sisters-in-law, Hazel (Herman “Bud”) Manke and Zelda (Marvin) Droster, brothers-in-law, Glen Leistikow and Bruce (Joan and Julie) Leistikow.
A funeral service will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran, W6906 County Road K, Arlington with Pastor Jacob Scott officiating, at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 22, 2023. A visitation will be held at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church. Following the service, the committal will be at Greenwood Cemetery in North Leeds, WI.
A special thank you to the staff at Our House Assisted Living in Lodi and to the Agrace team. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Education Scholarship Fund or the Cornerstone Community Center (formerly known as The DeForest Area Community and Senior Center). Bob lived life to the fullest, unconditionally loving Edna, family, friends and especially his many nieces and nephews. Bob was a father figure to many and always gave great advice.
