Obituary For Richard "Rick" Paul Schubring

Madison/Land O'Lakes-Richard P. "Rick" Schubring, age 88, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2017 at Nazareth Nursing Home in Stoughton. He was born on August 16, 1929 in Madison, WI, the son of Harlow and Bertha (Maksnes) Schubring. Rick graduated from Madison East High School in 1947 and later attended Madison Business College. After college he worked for his father's grocery store in Madison, Schubring's Fine Food, until his mid 20's. After leaving his father's grocery store, Rick owned and operated a variety of sales businesses such as concrete, food sales and a resort in Woodruff, WI. In 1964 he started working with AT&T in marketing and sales. On July, 31, 1954 Rick was united in marriage to Helen (Lund) Schubring at Luther Memorial Church in Madison. Rick and Helen spent their retirement years on Moccasin Lake, near Land O'Lakes, WI. During that time, Rick operated a chimney sweep business. Rick enjoyed the recreation that Moccasin Lake provided. He especially enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and traveling. He found particular joy in caretaking of his property on the lake including working in the woods. In all, Rick spent 30 enjoyable years of retirement in the Northwoods.

Rick is survived by his 5 children, Eric Schubring of Cable, WI, Stephanie (Tom) Shaw of Taos, NM, Lisa (Mark) Orvick of Madison, WI, Christian (Donna) Schubring of Cross Plains, WI, and Richelle (Bret) Netherton of Mt Pleasant, IA; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Colleen Schubring.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Helen Schubring; parents, Harlow and Bertha Schubring; son, Hans Schubring and brother, Bernard Schubring.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30am on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at LAKEVIEW LUTHERAN CHURCH at THE HISTORIC OLD CHAPEL, 4001 Mandrake Road, Madison, with Pastor, Mark Bartels presiding. Visitation will take place from 10:30am until the time of service.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
