Obituary For Phyllis Ann Adams

Madison/Waunakee - Phyllis Ann Adams, age 83, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, at Waunakee Manor.

Phyllis was born July 10, 1933 in Denver, CO to James and Hannah (Koehler) Curley. She married the love of her life, Francis Loyal Adams on Jan. 20, 1951 in Broken Bow, NE. They lived in NE, CO and Canada before settling in Madison in 1964. They celebrated 56 years together until Francis passed away in 2007. Phyllis attended M.A.T.C. and was a successful freelance court reporter. She loved to read, play piano, sew and bake. She spoiled her family with banana breads, brownie bites, “rollem-ups” and snickerdoodles. She loved making quilts as an RSVP volunteer. Scrabble was her favorite game, making lifelong friendships through Scrabble-club. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of her life.

She is survived by her loving family; two sons, Karl (Peggy), and their son Eric (Casey); Craig (Janet), and their son Andrew (Gretchen) and daughter Joni (Tyler) and their children Audrey, Norah and Calvin; grandson Jason (Dana) and their children Addyson and Landon. She is also survived by many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Francis, son Bruce, and her sisters, Pauline and Patsy.

She and Francis were privileged to help raise their grandson Jason after their son Bruce was in a car accident causing a brain injury. Rather than flowers, a donation to the Bruce Adams Memorial Fund at Work Plus Inc., 2318 Vondron Rd, Madison Wis., 53718, who helped pave the way for Bruce and other brain injury survivors to re-enter the work force, would be appreciated.

Services will be private at her request. A public Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 23, from 2 – 4 p.m. at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., Madison.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
