Obituary For Pamela Roth

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, IL – Pamela Joyce Rothwell Roth, age 91, formerly of Madison, WI passed away on September 22, 2023 at The Highlands at the Moorings in Arlington Heights, IL. She was born in Reading, UK on April 25, 1932 to William Rothwell and Margaret Parker Rothwell. Due to her mother’s death and her father’s battle with multiple sclerosis, Pam moved to Amesbury, UK in 1939 where she was raised by her loving Aunt Alice Thompson with whom she shared a close relationship. Pam lived in Amesbury throughout World War II, and her family had to make many sacrifices like so many others during the war. True to her British upbringing, Pam was a huge fan of the Royal family, and one of her fondest memories was being a spectator at procession of Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. When she was 21 years old, Pam emigrated to the United States. She sailed on the S.S. America in November 1953, and passed through Ellis Island on her way to Madison, WI where she went to live with her cousin. Pam met her future husband, John Roth, in Madison in 1958 and the two were married within months of their first date. They celebrated 50 years of marriage before John’s passing in 2009. Pam was a stay-at-home mom who loved her children deeply. She loved gardening, reading, and playing golf and tennis.

Pam was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Stephen Roth, her Aunt Alice Thompson, her parents William and Margaret Rothwell, her brother John Rothwell, her cousins Maggie Schmidt and Georgie Ford and her grandson, Stephen Mackey. Survivors include her children, Maggie (Dave) Mackey, Fran (Jeff) Nemeth, Jonathan (Joanne) Roth; grandchildren Christopher (Amanda) Mackey, Stephanie Mackey, Sam (Rachel) Nemeth, Jack Nemeth, Ian Roth and Alice Roth; and great-grandson Callum Nemeth.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 5001 N. Sherman Avenue, Madison, WI on Saturday, October 28, 2023 with a visitation commencing at 9:30 AM and the Mass at 10 AM.

Condolences

My deepest sympathy to all of the Roth family. Your parents were wonderful individuals and through MBCC I had the privilege of working for them and getting to know them. The Skylight Terrace would not have existed without your dad in charge.

Sending most sincere condolences to Maggie, Fran, Jonathan and their families. Pam was the life of every party, her laugh could cheer the most serious among us, and her love for her kids, grandkids was evident in every breath she took. So many good times in Wisconsin and in Florida. Will be wearing lavender in her honor, and I know she will meet Joan, Tom and John for a good round of golf soon.

So sorry for your loss. My grandmother, Anna Bucaida, used to sew for your mother. I remember how Pam was always dressed so nicely, and with Jonathan (my St. Mary's friend) in tow.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
