Obituary For Noreen Marie Beck
Madison – Noreen M. Beck, age 94, passed away peacefully at Oak Park Place in Madison on Sunday, March 24, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 29, 1929, in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of Bernard and Genevieve (Torphy) Grogan. On September 4, 1954, Noreen was united in marriage to Louis Beck. Noreen worked at the Wisconsin Department of Unemployment Compensation before becoming a work at home mom.
Noreen was an active member of St. Dennis Catholic Church for many years where she loved to volunteer. Mom absolutely loved life and she was very devoted to God, family and friends. She enjoyed any kind of family gatherings, especially cookouts, Sunday dinners, family camping trips, and trips to visit her sisters and their families. Noreen also cherished time spent with her friends. She exuded a sweet gentleness and tremendous compassion.
Noreen was also a fan of traveling, whether it was a trip to Ireland or a train trip to California. For the last 12 years, Noreen enjoyed spending her time at Oak Park Place on Madison’s Eastside where she sang in the choir, lead the rosary, attended social events, played BINGO and spent lots of time reading.
Noreen is survived by her five children, Theresa (Dave) Beck-Engel, Thomas (Karen) Beck, Robert J. Beck, William (Tracy) Beck, and Frederick (Deanna) Beck; eight grandchildren, Katharine, Mackenzie, Alexander, Jacqueline, Nichole, Cody, Brian and Tana; 4 greatgrandchildren with 2 more on the way; sister, Jeanette (Ted) Metz; brother, John (Julie) Grogan; brother-in-law, Jim Bernardy; and many other loving relatives and good friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Louis Beck; daughter, Mary Louise Beck; son, Bernard Beck; sister, Beverly Bernardy; and she was recently preceded in death by her sister-in-law, Bernadine Beck.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11am on Wednesday, April 3, 2024, at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Rd, Madison, with Fr. Michael Tarigopula presiding. A visitation will be held at the church from 10am until the time of Mass. Burial will take place at Highland Memory Gardens.
