Obituary For Myra P. Reilly

Myra P Reilly, age 82, died on August 17, 2023 after several years of decline in body and mind but not spirit. She remained in her home in Madison under the care of staff from Senior Helpers and Promedica Hospice. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Myra was born and grew up in Pennsylvania. She was a life-long fan of the Phillies baseball team. After graduation from Penn State University, she worked in retail management, and lived in various locations in several eastern states. After moving to Madison, Myra switched careers and started working as a computer programmer. She joined the staff of the administrative computing department (DoIT) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus. After retirement from UW-Madison, she enjoyed her hobbies of collecting stamps, visiting flea markets, playing piano, walking at Westgate Mall, growing shamrock and violet plants, and dining out with friends. She was active in the Penn State alumni organization at the time that Penn State joined the Big Ten conference. Myra lovingly cared for many cats over the years.

Ryan Funeral Homes and Cremation Service in Madison is coordinating with Wiedeman Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Oberlin PA to handle final arrangements. Burial will be in the Harrisburg PA cemetery.

I'm so much better for having you as a friend. I miss our talks over food and our short trips. Our trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame will always be one of my fondest memories. RIP and go Phillies.

I worked with Myra as well as being her friend. I lost track of her and I thought she had moved back to Harrisburg. I am sorry I didn't know she was still here as I would have connected with her. She will be missed. She was a special person.

I was a work colleague and friend. I lived close to Myra and saw her frequently as her health declined. My favorite story involved Superbowl III. Myra made a number of bets with her work colleagues that underdog NY Jets would win, led by Pennsylvania native Joe Namath. On Monday morning, she quietly collected all of her winnings.

Myra was such a delightful person to work with at DoIT. She always brought a smile to my face whenever we got to chat or have lunch. She had a lot of spunk. It didn't help that she was a Penn State fan. 🙂 She'll be missed.

Myra was a such a fun, intelligent and caring person. When you saw that twinkle in her eye, you knew something was happening. I am sorry that the last few years made it hard to see you and were so hard for you. You will be missed. Kathy Neitzel

Myra Reilly was a long-time member of the Badger Stamp Club. Though she was unable to attend meetings for some time, she is fondly remembered, especially for her help in mailing the clubs' newsletters. May Myra now rest in peace! Sharon Brainerd Whitney, secretary Badger Stamp Club

I was working at Doit while Myra was there. She was capable and pleasant to work with. I am very grateful for her efforts in organizing breakfast meetings for Doit retirees. Those were great get togethers.

Myra was such a great person to know. She was a stamp collector and member of the Badger Club. She also was quite enthusiastic about her collections of baseball cards - Brewers and rookie cards. I visited with her at her home several times. Charles Shoemaker

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
