Obituary For Morgan Nicole Strutt

We were blessed to have Morgan Nicole Strutt in our lives for 25 years before she passed peacefully in the night on October 15, 2023. She moved through life with a free and sometimes feisty spirit. She graduated from Verona High School and was currently living in Mineral Point, WI, and working at the Hodan Center. She was happy and living her best life after recent years of health challenges.

She loved her music. Some of her favorites included Hannah Montana, Hilary Duff, Big Time Rush, and One Direction. She loved Harry Potter, proclaiming herself a wizard in the Hufflepuff house. She enjoyed shopping and had an extensive collection of water bottles. In high school, being a part of the cheerleading squad gave her immense pride and a sense of inclusion. Morgan always cherished her chicken tenders and cheese curds. A day wouldn’t go by without the use of her iPad and headphones.

She loved to travel. Morgan made many trips to Florida to visit her grandma and grandpa Oliver, as well as trips to the beach, including her Make-A-Wish trip on a cruise to the Caribbean. The highlight of that trip was swimming with dolphins. She enjoyed camping with family and trips to the lake, church mission trips, and going to Camp Courageous in Iowa. She also participated in sled hockey, wheelchair basketball, and martial arts with Master Tracy. Morgan was proud to be on the board of the ARC-Dane County, where she received a self-advocate award.

Attending Sugar River United Methodist Church brought her immense joy, comfort, and a sense of community. She enjoyed her Christian music and always kept a Bible near her. She attended regularly with her dad and sister. Morgan faced her many challenges in life with grace and strength. She will be remembered for her endless smile and happy spirit that captivated all who knew her.

Our deepest gratitude to Jennifer Ward and her children Garrett, Owen, Willow and Mateo the newest members of our family, friend, and caregiver, who opened their home and hearts unconditionally and provided Morgan with love and the greatest gift of “independence.”

Morgan is survived by her parents: Kelly (Janis) Strutt, James (Debbie) Strutt; siblings: JC Strutt, Mackenzie (Jake) Woolever, Mason Strutt; stepbrothers: Connor Schwoob, Cameron (Kasey) Schwoob, and Tyler (Alexa) Harvey; grandparents: Thomas Strutt, Billie and Bob Oliver, Judy Gustin, and Sheldon Hendrickson; as well as her nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She is preceded in death by grandparents Marian Strutt and Chuck Gustin “Papa Chuck.”

A special thank you to the first responders who helped the family on the day of her passing.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Sugar River United Methodist Church, 415 W. Verona Road, Verona. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of the service at the church followed by a light lunch. Interment will be at the Eastside Cemetery in Ridgeway, WI, at 2:00 PM. The service will be live streamed on the church YouTube channel Sugar River UMC for those who can’t travel and attend in person.

We want to give Morgan the memorial she deserves, to honor her memory. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made payable to Morgan Strutt, directly to her account at UW Credit Union.

I first meet Morgan on the school bus route, as I was her bus attendant. Upon first meeting her in the beginning of the school year, I found her to be so bright and cheery. She was very informative and was not shy at all to give me pointers of her care and the bus route. She had a wonderful infectious smile and laugh, that was so her. She was happy to talk to me about anything and everything. Even though Morgan had some physical limitations that girl wouldn't let it stop her. She surprised how she already knew ways to get things done that she needed. Such a beautiful girl and a beautiful spirit. I know she will have a special up there in the after world. I hope that wonderful spirit continues to shine down on us all. Love ya Miss Morgan And my heart goes out to her wonderful loving family.

I first met Morgan when she was 3 years old and she began attending preschool with us. I remember her tiny purple wheelchair and how she would shyly look down when we would talk to her. Her shyness soon disappeared and we began to see the strength and determination of Morgan's spirit that only grew stronger through the years. Morgan was such a happy and upbeat friend that everyone was drawn to her. One of my favorite memories was seeing her years later at practice for the cheerleading squad. She saw me and came right up to me with a HUGE smile of pride to announce, "I'm a cheerleader now!!!" I will always remember her radiant smile and her fierce determination. My deepest sympathies to her family. She was one of a kind. Regina Kane

Morgan and I became great friends in high school through having several classes together and being on the cheerleading team together. One of my favorite memories of Morgan would have to be when we all went to prom together in 2016, as it was so much fun. I will cherish these memories always💛 To the Strutt family- my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Sending our deepest condolences and hugs. We knew Morgan as a friend, cheer team member, prom and homecoming buddies, holloween gatherings and so much more. Keeping in touch over Facebook was still our connection when she moved. Her joy and beautiful smile will be missed. Elizabeth Paul and family.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
