Sun Prairie - Michael James Clark, known to most as “Arch”, 68, of Sun Prairie, WI passed away peacefully on February 1st, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Arch was a devoted husband, a cherished father, and an adored grandfather whose kindness, insight, and love left an unforgettable mark on everyone who knew him.

A celebration of Arch’s life will be held later this spring with details to come.

Born on January 6th, 1957, in Dodgeville, WI, Arch lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication to his family. He was a graduate of Sun Prairie High School, Class of 1975. Arch found interest in the grocery store business soon after, devoting the next 50 years of his life to this profession, making numerous friends in coworkers and customers along the way. Arch was most recently working at the Piggly Wiggly store in Waunakee, WI, where he will especially miss working with the boys of the produce and meat departments.

He married the love of his life, Amy Craig in 1984 and together they built a home filled with warmth and joy. Arch & Amy celebrated 40 years together last June with a trip to California spending time with their children and grandchild. As a father, he was a source of strength and guidance, always ready with words of wisdom and encouragement. His children, Casey and Caitlyn, were his true pride and joy, and he never missed an opportunity to show how much he loved them.

In his younger years, Arch spent many years playing recreational basketball and softball, golfing, and getting into shenanigans with the close group of fellas he grew up with. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching games and chatting about the latest in the athletic world. Over the years, Arch was fond of traveling to his children’s events, especially tailgating at Casey’s football games, whether he be playing or coaching. Arch went on many road trips with his band of brothers, lake weekends up north to celebrate milestones with family and friends, and most recently, quality time spent in Omaha and LA with his children, and month-long winter escapes to warmer climates with his wife.

His greatest delight in later years was becoming a grandpa to Callihan, a true highlight in his life, and a proud dog-grandpa to Henley. Arch was a quintessential family man. He cherished every moment spent with them, and his love and influence will live on in the generations he nurtured.

Arch had a generous spirit and a kind heart, always willing to lend a helping hand to friends, neighbors, and anyone in need. His calm demeaner was felt by all, his laughter was contagious, and his one-liners were always appreciated. Whether through his career, or daily interactions with his friends and family, he made the world a better place.

He is survived by his wife Amy Clark; son Casey Clark (Mehgan) and granddaughter, Callihan; daughter Caitlyn Clark (Taylor); siblings Sandy Grady, Pat Clark (Sharon), Judy Casper (Bernie), Terry Schernecker, Jo Callaway (Greg), and Ken Clark (Stephanie). His loving sisters-in-law, Laurie Sokolak, Cindy Craig, Carrie (Rick) Brownrigg; brother-in-law Danny Craig (Ginny). Nieces and nephews; Lisa (Tuck) Steil, Maddy (Matt) and Wren Weis, Kelli Craig, JJ Craig, Kyle and Brett Brownrigg (both of whom he had a special bond with) and many other relatives and friends. He will be deeply missed by his family and close friends, especially The Danielsons, (Jeff, Mary, Scott, and Eric) who have always been like family.

He is reunited in heaven with his dad and mom, Ken and Mary Clark; his in laws John and Pat Craig, sister, Ginger Larson, brothers-in-law, Bob Grady, Dwayne Schernecker, and Larry Sokolak.

His family extends a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and healthcare staff at University of Wisconsin Trauma and Life Support and General Care units for taking such great care of him over this past month.

Though he is no longer physically with us, his love, lessons, and legacy will remain in our hearts forever.
