Fitchburg – Mary Louise (Hill) Klahr, age 78, passed away May 4, 2016 at Sylvan Crossing Assisted Living. She was born December 19, 1937 in Madison, WI to Lyle and Mary (Nienaber)Hill. She graduated from Edgewood High School in 1955 and from the College of St. Teresa in Winona, MN in 1959. Mary was a registered nurse and worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison for 10 years. Then she worked at Badger Prairie Hospital until her retirement in 1993.

On August 27, 1960 she married James Klahr at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Madison, WI. Mary loved being a nurse. She was also an avid bridge player and garage saler. Mary sang in the church choir at St. Maria Goretti for many years. Being blessed with 2 sets of twin boys, Mary was an active member in the Madison twins Club.

Mary is survived by her husband James of 55 years; children, Jon (Liz) of Waukesha, WI, Bill (Sue) of Redondo Beach, CA, Kathy (Kerry) Henderson of Cedarburg, WI, Joan (Mike) Bald of Freeport, IL, Dan (Shannon) of Eau Claire, WI, Mike (Heidi) of Verona, WI and 17 grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Virginia (Jim) Holmes of Longmont, CO and Harriet (Ron) Ghering of Lodi, WI, brother Jeff (Sharon) Hill of Woodstock, IL and brother-in-law Tom Stephan of Scottsdale, AZ. She is also survived by many cousins, nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Eileen Stephan.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. MARIA GORETTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5313 Flad Ave, Madison on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 at JOYCE-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 5701 Odana Road, from 4-7 p.m. and also at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 until the time of the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association.
