DeForest – Mark D. Jensen, age 74, was killed when he rushed into a burning building to save a litter of puppies. Or maybe not. We all know how he loved to tell stories. He was born on December 1, 1949, in Ashland, Wisconsin to parents Duane and Marjorie (Lee) Jensen.

Mark's early years were shared with his sister, cousins, and friends creating a tapestry of memories filled with laughter and camaraderie.

Mark attended and graduated from Ashland High School in 1968. Shortly after graduating he went on to attend the University of Wisconsin – Eau Clare, where he met and eventually married the love of his life, Karen N. (Trampush). Mark was a senior marketing representative at Federated Insurance for over 27 years, before retiring in 2007. During this time, he achieved a great deal of recognition and awards. He was an avid golfer, who also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and attending Badger and Packer games.

Mark is survived by his wife Karen; children Chris (Cassie) and Tracy; grandchildren Jozie and Lena; and his sister Lee (Jim) Bujold; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A special thank you to Agrace Hospice for their care of Mark, and specifically to Heather, Melissa, and Stacy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Agrace Hospice.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 6924 Lake Road. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, July 5, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. as well as Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

I remember Mark and Lee when I was their " babysitter " ( actually just there to maintain the peace and be sure Lee got to bed). Very happy, fun memories of two beautiful people. My heartfelt sympathy to Mark's family.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

James S. | July 2020

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Michael M. | July 2020

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
