Obituaries

DeForest - Leroy Matt Lantinen, age 58, passed away Saturday, November 26, 2016 at his home in Storm Lake, Iowa. He was born in Chicago, IL on March 21, 1958, son of the late Gust Lantinen and Beatrice Groth.

Leroy was a lifelong Blackhawk hockey fan, science fiction book and movie fanatic, and connoisseur of punk and classic rock music. He loved working with his hands and was a jack-of-all-trades for many years. For the past nine years, he was a machine technician at the Tyson processing plant in Storm Lake, Iowa, where he had a tremendous work ethic and found an adopted family in the people there.

Survived by his estranged wife, Venus Ruffolo; daughter, Athena (Tom) Lyons of Deforest, Wisconsin; Four grandkids, Mary, Anthony, William, and Gianna; daughter Autumn Lantinen of Fort Collins, Colorado; brothers, Paul and Keith; and sisters Barbara, Joyce and Karen.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 4th 2016 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest, with Rev. Gary Reynolds officiating. A visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
