Obituary For Kevin Eugene Luedtke

Kevin Eugene Luedtke, age 66, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, July 8, 2024.

Kevin is survived by his devoted mother, Kathryn Luedtke (nee Tobin), his cherished sons Kenton, Kyle (Kate), and Wade, as well as his brothers Keith (Stephanie), and Dean. He was preceded in death by his devoted father Donald Luedtke.

Kevin's deep care, compassion, and profound dedication towards animals were evident throughout his life, particularly in his role as acting Humane Control Officer for Juneau County. His commitment to service extended further in his over 30-year tenure as a state security officer at Volk Field in Camp Douglas, Wisconsin, where he faithfully served until retirement.

Kevin found solace and joy on his beloved farm, surrounded by his animals, whom he adored. His legacy of kindness and dedication to animal welfare lives on through the many lives he has touched.

As we bid farewell to Kevin, we celebrate his life of passion for not only family and friends, but the incredible number of animals he had rescued, helped, and found loving homes for throughout his lifetime. The family knows that in lieu of flowers, Kevin would like donations to be made to Carl W. Nelson Animal Shelter, Chasing Daylight Animal Shelter, or Rocky & Rusty’s Redemption Rescue in his honor.

A brief prayer service will be held on Friday, July 19th, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 N. Sherman Ave, Madison. A visitation will be held on Friday at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Sorry for your lose of Kevin. I always enjoyed working with him for almost 30 years. He got along with most everyone and rarely had a bad word for anyone. I think his favorite job was that of taking care of all animals for Juneau County. He was one of the few people I know that had a pet Skunk. 🙂 Dan Johnson Volk Field Security Police.

My sympathies to Kevin's family and friends. I worked with Kevin at Volk Field and he was a country neighbor. He was an easy-going guy and I thank him for his service to the state and to the animals he saved. I told my dog he had to be on a leash, when out for a walk, or Kevin would take him home! LOL! He will be missed on the township board as well. May God bless you all and give you strength through this difficult time. Amy Gran-Volk Field/Services

My deepest sympathy to family and all who knew Kevin. My precious Paco, 15y/o pom/rat terrier mix, was the smallest of Kevins personal pack at the time Kevin let me adopt him, still 'protects' me. He was a perfect match when I told Kevin what I was looking for. Kevin, I'm sure you were met with many many tails wagging. We need more like you.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Michael M. | July 2020

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
