DEKORRA/POYNETTE – Kay Ann Fehrman, age 77, passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2025. Kay was born on May 31, 1947, in Madison, WI to Guy and Shirley (Langing) Blakeley.

Kay graduated from Madison East High School and went on to graduate from cosmetology school. She later worked as a Psychiatric Care Technician at Mendota Mental Health until her retirement. Kay loved taking trips out west with her husband, Dennis. She enjoyed gardening, planting flowers to bring in her hummingbirds, feeding her wildlife, and watching her granddaughter play college softball. She also cherished spending time outdoors.

If you ever had the pleasure of knowing Kay or even speaking with her, you would know what kind of woman, warrior, spitfire and love of everything outside she was. She was a lover of Collies and was very involved in collie rescue. For many, many years she was part of Minnesota Wisconsin Collie rescue and she was involved with S.C.E.N.E. (Sheltie/Collie Emergency Network). She has touched many lives doing what she loved. Kay will always be remembered for her kindness to animals and for using her voice to speak for those without.

Kay is survived by her husband, Dennis Fehrman; children, Laura (Tommy Jenson) Rhoades-Jenson and Levi (Andrea) Bulgrin; step-daughter, Erica (Scott) Nessen; granddaughter, Daelynn Rhoades; and all of her fur grand-babies.

She was preceded in death by her son, Jacob Bulgrin; mother, Shirley Grumke; stepfather, E. Grumke, PhD; father, Guy Blakeley; brother, Gary Blakeley; and sister, Laura Allen.

A celebration of life will be planned for this summer 2025. Memorial donations to honor the life of Kay Fehrman may be made to: Wildlife Center of Dane County Humane Society, Columbia County Humane Society, or the International Hummingbird Society.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
