Obituary For Kathryn Jo (McAdow) Hatter
Kathryn Jo (McAdow) Hatter, age 57, of Brodhead, WI, the loyal, faithful, and devoted wife of Leonard Hatter for nearly 35 years and loving mother of nine, finally let go of her life on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg, WI after a two-and-a-half year battle with stage four kidney cancer. She was born April 26, 1967, in Denver, CO to Jerry and Carol McAdow. She lived most of her life in the Madison and Brodhead, WI areas. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Leonard; their 9 children (Lora, Daniel, David, Sarah, Michael, Ruth, Abigail, Isaiah, and Rachel), sons-in-law Chad and Jason, daughters-in-law Jessica and Adin, 11 grandchildren (Ava, Kelvin, Madison, Kelssey, Josie, Carter, Lilly, Kaylee, Luke, Avery, and Audrey), father, Jerry; and brother, Gary. She was preceded in death by her mother, Carol, in 2022.
Kathy attended school in Madison, WI, graduating in 1985 from James Madison Memorial High School. She met Leonard in May 1989 at Market Square Fitness Center in Madison and they were married on Kapalua Bay in Maui, HI on February 23, 1990. Kathy worked tirelessly and selflessly to love and care for her family day in and day out, always placing them ahead of herself. She homeschooled all nine children and worked from home as the Lead Administrator for First Editing, Inc. for over ten years (until last summer when she simply could no longer work). Kathy enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitch, jewelry making, decorating, baking, cooking, gardening, country music (especially Toby Keith), and her rabbit Tommy held a special place in her heart. She absolutely loved family gatherings, with Thanksgiving, Passover season, and 4th of July in particular being truly special days in the Hatter household. The love and care Kathy gave to her family was beyond words and she will be sorely missed. She was a truly amazing woman, wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend.
Kathy’s final days were difficult for her and her family, but she was never alone. Her faith in God and belief in His plan did not waver. Her family and friends spent countless hours at her bedside, day and night, and made many long trips to be with her. Her family will be forever grateful to the B6/6 nursing staff at UW Hospital for their unparalleled care and compassion. Special thanks as well to the team at Agrace for their kindness.
The final sentiment Kathy expressed to her family was that while this wasn’t what we had hoped for, she never stopped fighting so she could be there for her family for as long as possible. Her love, dedication, courage, resolve, and fortitude will forever be an inspiration to her family and those who knew her. Her memory and life works will live on through everyone she left behind.
A Memorial Service will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Ryan Funeral Home, 220 Enterprise Dr, Verona, WI. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service with refreshments to follow.
