Obituary For Kathleen "Katie" Vaught

Lodi, WI-

Kathleen “Katie” Vaught, age 65, passed away on Sunday, November 17, 2024, at home in her sleep. She was born on January 3, 1959, in Crystal, MN, the daughter of Robert and Donna (Meyer) Morey.

Katie grew up in Sauk Rapids, MN. She was the fourth of six siblings. Katie, early on developed a no-nonsense, can-do spirit. She was known to “hold her own” growing up alongside her five siblings Blair “Geno” Morey, Steven Morey, Nan Morey, John Morey, Joe Morey, and made sure she was loud enough for all to hear.

After graduating from high school, Katie joined the military (Army) where she met the love of her life, Daniel Vaught, while stationed in Germany. They were married on June 11, 1988, and shared 36 wonderful years together and many adventures. Katie was a loving wife and mother to her two children, Kyle Vaught, and Samantha Vaught.

Katie and Dan loved adventure and traveled often, spending the winter months in Destin, Florida. Katie loved nothing more than being surrounded by family, sharing stories and playing cards.

Katie is survived by her husband, Daniel Vaught; her two children, Kyle R. (Kristi) Vaught & Samantha J. Vaught; and her siblings, Blair “Geno” (Lynn) Morey, Nannette “Nan” Morey, John (Bonnie) Morey, and Joe (Liz) Morey.

Katie is preceded in death by her parents, Robert & Donna Morey, and her older brother, Steven Morey.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Ryan Funeral Home, Windsor/DeForest Chapel, 6924 Lake Road. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.

Dear Morey cousins, I'm so sorry for your loss. I will always remember our get togethers with your family when we were kids. Katie was a feisty, spirited girl with a gleam in her eye and a smile on her face. She and my sister had a great friendship that lasted through all these years. We will all miss her. Some people come into your life and you remember them forever! Katie was one of these people! I'm glad she was one of them!

So many good memories of Katie, and they're all with happiness. She & Dan were on a RV trip a few years back and after visiting their son, they made their way to Apache Junction to see our Eveslage family. Katie visited Jeanne and was awed by her homemade quilts. Jeanne gifted Katie with a quilt. We went to visit Dan and Katie that evening in their RV and after all our fun was over, Katie was so proud to snuggle inside her quilt for a good nights rest. Katie's love that she carried and shared was strong, and she will be deeply thought of.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
