Obituary For Joseph A. Balistreri Jr.

Madison – Joseph A. Balistreri, Jr., age 75, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 18, 2020. Joe was born on November 24, 1944 in Madison, WI to Joseph and Florence (Chiovaro) Balistreri. He grew up in “The Bush” and graduated from Central High in 1962. Joe married the love of his life, Dee Standish, on August 2, 1969 at St. James Catholic Church. From high school, Joe was a printer working for Cantwell, Straus and Cuna Supply. He hosted spaghetti dinners on Super Bowl Sunday at the VFW Post 8483 for 50 years. Joe loved golf. If he could golf every day, he would have. He also enjoyed bowling, sometimes three nights a week and twice on Fridays. Joe also played softball, poker with his brother and friends, and Sheepshead. He was a huge Badger and Packer fan. Joe will be missed by many.

Joe is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dee; his brother Frank (Peg); sister Ann Marie (Rick) Gilbertsen; sisters-in-law Shirley Standish and Sally (Brian) Myrland; many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Douglas “Skip” Standish.

A funeral service will be held at 11AM on Monday, January 27, 2020 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Avenue, Madison. A visitation will be held from 9AM until time of service on Monday at the funeral home.
