I always looked forward to a visit from Uncle John and Aunt Thea. They always came to my birthday parties and celebrated special occasions with me. A special memory I have is Uncle John reading The Grinch Who Stole Christmas this past Christmas. I will miss Uncle John so much.

My Uncle John was always a very kind and generous Uncle. I loved how much he knew the bible and his love for God is inspiring. He was always very personable and was always genuinely interested in the lives of his nieces and nephews. We will all miss him dearly.

This is such a shock. 😢 We met John and Thea for the first time when they bought our home on Luster Ave. in 2018. They were such a delightful couple. We continued to see John over the years when he would bring us mail that for some reason was still going to this house. This gentle, kind man would make a special trip to our new home to bring us mail that was still coming to our previous home. It was always great to catch up with him about how he and Thea and their fur-baby was doing. We are so sad to see that he's passed. Our deepest sympathies go out to Thea and Hank and their families. Rest in peace angel John. Very sincerely, Dave & Deb Lapotka

I only knew him through FaceBook, but we wrote in great detail back and forth to each other over the years. In the days of my youth he would have been a Super Pen Pal. He enriched my life and I will miss him greatly. Peace and Strength to all you who knew him in person and are suffering such a loss.

When I married Skip, (John's brother), John, as well as Chris, Cindi, and Tom, welcomed me into the Bach family. The Bach and Barkhoff families became one large, happy family. I especially loved discussing the Bible with John. His in-depth understanding of God's Word was inspiring. When John asked, "How are you?" He truly meant it and always showed genuine interest in everyone. John will be greatly missed!

John was such a wonderful man! We got to spend a few days together recently. We had so much in common. Our politics and belief systems were pretty close. He was fun and so very bright. He'll be missed. So sorry for his loss.

John and I and many Riverwoodsian kids grew up running wild around Riverwoods for years. Was one of my earliest friends out there. A truly nice guy and gentle soul. So very sorry to hear this.

Godspeed. I knew John as his VW (TDI) Mechanic for many years. I always enjoyed our chats, a truly nice guy. Sorry for you loss.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
