Obituaries

MADISON – John Joseph “Jack” Reis, age 82, passed away, with Rosie by his side, after a battle with cancer, on Monday, December 4, 2023. Jack was born on April 25, 1941, in Madison, WI to Floyd and Margaret (Lynch) Reis. He served four years on the USS Sierra in the US Navy during the Cuban Crisis. Jack married, Rosemary Johnson, on September 27, 1986. He was a printer for the University of Wisconsin and later a program assistant 3 at the Department of Commerce. Jack was a lifelong member of the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cribbage, road trips, Western movies, and books.

Jack is survived by his wife of 37 years, Rosemary; children, Carolyn (Joe) Benson, John “JJ” (Stacy), Lucy (Josh) Laridaen, Jenny (Jason) Peterson, and Judi (Jason Herzer); grandchildren, Jazmin, Tiffany (Joe), Richard, Bailey, Brett, Jade, Joseph, and Olivia; great grandchildren, Reis and Etta; and siblings, Betty Marvin and Kathy Miller. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Bill and Bob.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Avenue, Madison and will conclude with Full Military Honors. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
