Obituaries

DEFOREST – Joan A Marks, age 61, passed away peacefully at The Willows Nursing & Rehabilitation Center on Feb 26, 2015. Joan was born June 15, 1953 in Madison, WI, the daughter of Earl and Dorothy (Damon) Falk. She graduated from Madison East High School in 1971. She grew up in Madison before marrying William Marks and moving to the Lake Wisconsin area in 1976. Joan had resided in DeForest since 2000. She worked for the State of Wisconsin McCardle Lab and later Evco Plastics, taking several years off between to focus on raising her three children.

Joan enjoyed spending time with friends and family, playing Bingo, movies, camping, and reading. The last three years of her life were filled with the joy of watching her twin grandsons grow. Joan is survived by her children Sherry (Brett Skoug) Marks of Deforest; Terry (Matt) Lechner of Sun Prairie, and Christopher (Emily Phillips) Marks of Deforest; grandsons Lucas and Logan; sister-in-law Donna Falk and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Joan was preceded in death by both her parents and her brother Gene Falk.

A service will be held at 7:00PM on Monday, March 2, 2015 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest. A visitation will be held from 4:00PM until time of service on Monday at the funeral home. Committal service will be held at 10:00AM on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at Dekorra Norwegian Lutheran Cemetery.
