Jeanette E. (Pickarts) Kurth, age 91 formerly of Madison, passed away on September 22, 2016 at Ingleside Manor in Mount Horeb. Jeanette was born on October 12, 1924 in Madison to the late Bernard and Matilda (Birrenkott) Pickarts. She was a graduate of Madison East High School, class of 1943 and St. Bernard’s Catholic Grade School. After high school, she was employed by Madison Kipp Corporation until leaving to raise a family. On May 10, 1947 she married Raymond P. Kurth at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Madison.

She was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family and religious faith were her life. She lived the majority of her life in her hometown, Madison. After her husband’s retirement, she relocated with him to their cottage on the Wisconsin River near Mazomanie, where they enjoyed many years of relaxation and independence. She and her husband also traveled for a time, to visit friends throughout the country, and take breaks from the harsh Wisconsin winters. Their travel was highlighted by a trip to Europe. She also worked for a period of time at Ace Hardware in Sauk City. She was a member of St. Norbert Catholic Church in Roxbury.

Survivors include her children, Raymond (Ramona) Kurth, Deborah (Grant) Weina, Patricia Kurth, Richard Kurth, Mary Kurth and Michael (Becky) Kurth; her grandchildren, Hope Weina (Jerod) James, Sarah Weina (Mark) Sauer, Aaron Kurth, Kristin Kurth, Joseph Kurth, Sophia Kurth, Samantha Kurth and Christopher Kurth; her great-grandchildren, Kingston, Gianna, Adelyne and Xavier James; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne (Phyllis) Pickarts, Joyce (DeHaven) Pickarts, Rilla (Kurth) Miller; and many nieces and nephews.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond P. Kurth; her parents, Bernard and Matilda Pickarts; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jacob and Louise (Littel) Kurth; her brothers, Raymond Pickarts and Father Bernard Pickarts; and her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ruth and Robert Gallus.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
