Miss you Dad. Spending more time in forest and creeks lately and am reminded of how thankful you are my Dad. To all who wrote kind words sharing your experiences, thank you much. Your son.

Jim was one of a kind. Generous in spirit and knowledge. He made our world a better place - so glad to have known, loved, and respected him.

As a young biologist, fresh out of college, I had my first interview for a permanent Fisheries position before a panel led by Jim. That day he impressed me with his intelligence, wit and professional insight; attributes he kept all the years I knew him. Jim, may the trout always rise and the walleyes always bite on your journey home.

Jim, a special friend, was brilliant, principled, sensitive and humble. He saw connections and asked questions that amazed all who were willing to listen and threatened those with lofty noses and planted feet. Wisconsin will miss him and so will I. Jeff Smoller, DNR associate

Many great memories from high school and undergrad at OSU. Roommates We reconnected in2010 and often visited .When I was in Wisconsin. Condolences to Ann and the children, they are in our prayers.

Jim was an all-around wonderful guy and an outstanding public servant. It was an honor to work with and learn from Jim at DNR. Sending hugs to Ann and Jim's family.
