Spring Green - James Joseph Kruchten, age 92, formerly of Waunakee, passed away peacefully in his sleep at Greenway Manor in Spring Green on November 4, 2015. He was born to Peter and Anna Kruchten on September 26, 1923.

James married his wife of 68 years, Eleanor Maier, on August 28, 1947. He retired from Wisconsin Central Center in 1985 after 25 years of service. James loved to hunt, fish, play cards and travel. He also enjoyed the 39 years that he and Eleanor spent at Pioneer Park Camp Resort in Lake Delton.

James is survived by his wife Eleanor, who resides at Greenway Terrace in Spring Green and his children, Marge (Bob) Coates of Waunakee, Jean (Cary Shultz) Kluge of Madison, Marv (Rhonda) Kruchten of Arena and Shirley (Bacilio Ferrer) Guitzkow of Madison. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Anna Kruchten, his sons, Jerome (Aug) Kruchten and Ken Kruchten and son-in-law Gary Guitzkow, his brother Mike Kruchten, and his sisters Esther Maly, Mary Gerbing and Annie Weaver.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Wounded Warrior Program in James' name would be greatly appreciated.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

I pray that I live to fish
Until my dying day.
And when it comes to my last cast,
I then humbly pray.
When in my Lord's great landing net
I'm peacefully asleep,
That in His mercy I be judged
Big enough to keep.
