Olga, thoughts and prayers are with you and family. I was fortunate to work with Jim several times when he ventured to northern Wisconsin in the early Spring. He was fun to work with and a beacon in the fog several times. Bob Tucker

Condolences to Jim's family. All will miss Jim's unique smile. I can see it in my mind's eye. Jim was a friend who did me a life changing favor. In the late sixties, while being a recruit warden in training, I was drafted into Uncle Sam's army. Jim suggested I go to see his friend, Sargent Teal, a recruiter, in Oshkosh. I did. From that contact I became an enlistee not a draftee. The enlistment was for two years--same as being drafted. Usually an enlistment is three years. I did not question that. I was sent to sunny Fort Ord for basic infantry training with the Packer Backer Platoon after completing my warden training and working as a Warden for the deer season of 1968. Otherwise it would have been Ft. Leonard Wood in cold and blustery November. This contact further provided me Army training in specialized electronic war fare. Upon arrival in Vietnam I was no longer infantry. I thank Jim to this day and perhaps owe him for my returning home intact. Jim was a wonderful person. God's speed. -Winter Hess

So sorry for ur loss. He was an interesting man and always had a cheery hello to everyone he met. I was a co-worker through state agency to work with Jim and process his paycheck. 😘. He will be missed. Pat Anderson

Please accept my sympathy and condolences on Jim's passing. He as the conservation warden in Rock County and I as an assistant DA worked together on many of his cases in Janesville and Beloit. He personified the best of professionalism. Jim's honesty, inherent sense of fairness, reasonableness, positive attitude, and geniality brought humanity into the courts. He made a very difficult job look easy. Jim's tireless commitment to public service and his many years of service made Rock County a better place. I am so very sorry for your loss. Olga, I was so sorry to hear of Jim's passing, seems only yesterday that I was welcomed into your home as a trainee. It was always good to see Jim at gatherings, but I most appreciated his advice and guidance. Duane Harpster

Olga and family, so sorry to hear this sad news. When contacting you this past winter, you informed me of Jim's situation and I'm sure he is in a better place now. While I never worked in the field with Jim due to our station/work assignments, I did get to know Jim very well while I was on patrol during many deer seasons in Crawford CO. at your cabin. Jim also allowed me and son Jason to deer/turkey on your property following my retirement in 1999. Always enjoyed getting together with both of you during the "warm ups" in your cabin and the conversations and memories. Jim was always vigilant for the "road hunters" along the gravel road at your cabin, and we made at least one case of shooting off the road as I recall. Always the consummate gentleman, Jim Amundson was a special friend and co-worker. He set the bar high for his colleagues. I will miss him.

Dear Olga, Janet, Susan and all of Jim's family, Please know we offer your our deepest condolences at this time of Jim's passing. Your obituary was such a nice tribute to a wonderful man. In addition to working with and knowing Jim over nines years of our overlapping careers, it was always nice to see and talk with Jim at the Retired Conservationist meetings or other retired warden gatherings. Jim also truly deserved the Haskell Noyes Efficiency Award when he was awarded that for his excellent service to Wisconsin citizens over the years. Jim was a wonderful man. Don and I always enjoyed spending an evening with you and Jim Olga. Also the wonderful weekend with you and Jim at your cottage. Don enjoyed working with Jim many years with the DNR and had fun after their retirement reminiscing about those years together. Jim was a great guy and will always be remembered. Love, Maian
