Obituary For Irene "Ann" Libert

Irene "Ann" (Luchsinger) Libert, age 89, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Sunday, January 26, 2025. There is an open chair at the Bridge table and a spot at the end of the rink. Ann was born on January 22, 1936, to Babe and Irene (Figy) Luchsinger in New Glarus, WI. She was proud of growing up in New Glarus. Following her high school graduation, Ann moved to Madison to attend Madison General Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a labor and delivery nurse for the majority of her career. While in Nursing School, Ann was set up on a blind date with the love of her life, Larry Libert. They married in 1957, at Saint Bernard Church, and were happily married for 54 years until Larry's death in 2012.

Together they had ten children between 1959 and 1978. The family grew up and grew together in the Westmorland neighborhood. While raising her children, Ann supported her husband and helped him realize the dream of owning his own business. She later went to work and made lifelong friends at her parish church, Our Lady Queen of Peace.

Ann had many interests, including playing bridge with friends, reading, sewing, traveling, and baking. She notably showed up for family by attending school and sporting events of her children and grandchildren. Ann especially loved her annual "sister trips" with her sister and daughters.

Above all else, Ann was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved deeply.

Ann is survived by her sister Lisbeth Lynne Hefty. She is further survived by her children, their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren: Carol (Brad) Wilinski, Karen (Keith) Butler, Nancy (Jim) Rundle, Tony (Jennifer) Libert, Steve Libert, Amy (Kurt) Hamilton, Tim (Brenda) Libert, John (Amy Brown) Libert, Mary (Jason) Haynes, David (Kanchana) Libert. Grandchildren: Melissa Wilinski, Adam (Ally) Wilinski, Kristen (Dan) Miller; Rebecca (Guillermo) Gongora, Phyllis Butler, Kelsi Butler; Michelle Boknevitz, Allison, Andy, and Liz Libert; Amanda (Kara) Carter, Lindsay (Eddie) Pacheco; Zoe Libert and Camille Libert; Tyler, Kate, and Jake Libert; Madigan, Cameron, Nathan, and Nicholas Haynes. Great grandchildren: Jack, Drake, and Thomas Wilinski; Owen and baby girl Miller; Elise Fugere, Guillermo, and Luca Gongora; Brayden and Olivia Boknevitz; Enzo and Liliana Pacheco.

Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry, and her parents. Her children will forever be grateful that they were able to celebrate her 89th birthday with her last week. We will miss you, Mom.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Catholic Multicultural Center.

Condolences

My very deepest sympathy on your very unexpected loss. We were classmates at MGH School of Nursing so many years ago. I will always have memories of that era. I did telephone her awhile ago and she was her usual upbeat self. Good memory. Again, my thoughts and prayers are with you all. Barb DePriest

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
