Obituary For Gordon Ayen

Madison – Gordon Ayen passed away peacefully at home on July 20, 2023, at the age of 94. He was born in Madison on January 21, 1929, to Elmer and Julia (Sale) Ayen. He graduated from Madison East High School in 1946 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1950 for a period of four years during the Korean War. Upon his return to Madison, he worked with his cousin in the building business. On July 9, 1955, he married Elaine Tripalin in Madison. In 1958, he began building single family homes as an independent contractor and continued to build and remodel homes, mostly on Madison’s north side until his retirement. He enjoyed time at his lake cabin in northwest Wisconsin, golfing, and keeping busy.

He is survived by his wife Elaine and son Tom. He is further survived by his sister and brother-in-law Catherine (Richard) Murray; nephews Mike (Teri), Bill (Tanya), and Bob Murray, and niece Susan O’Toole. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Don, and his sister Ruth.

Tom would like to thank the SSM Hospice Team for their exceptional care and support.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Kidney Fund.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Mr Ayen built our house in Cherokee Park in 1973. He and my father, Jerry Ringlien, were great golfing buddies and good friends.

We send love and sympathy to Elaine, and to the rest of Gordy's family, and we're sorry not to be nearer to you at this difficult time. Gordy always had a smile and a kind word for us and we will miss him. In peace, Alix Olson and Martha Popp, your neighbors in Maple Wood.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

James S. | July 2020

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Michael M. | July 2020

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
