Obituary For Gary Lee Shepherd

Gary Lee Shepherd, age 72, passed unexpectantly on November 27, 2024.

Gary was the Beloved Brother of Jane (Dave) Armstrong of Milwaukee, Steve (Barb) Shepherd, and Tom (Cindy Holzum) Shepherd; Special Uncle of Sarah (Sava Parisi) Holzum, Brian (Keara) Armstrong, Mike (Chelsea) Armstrong, Julie (Keith) Buntrock, Barry (Ashley) Shepherd and Frances (Dylan Gawne) Shepherd; and Great Uncle of Henry, Milo, Bennett, Maddie, Connor, Olivia and Oliver. Gary was preceded in death by parents, Bob & Betty Shepherd.

Gary was born in Madison but then became a lifelong resident of the Town of Westport. He attended the St Mary of the Lake Elementary School and Waunakee High School. As a teenager Gary developed a taste for muscle cars and was particularly proud of his red ’68 Camaro. After school he joined the Air Force National Guard where he served at Truax Field in Madison. A career at Webcrafters followed and he was an avid bowler with their company teams. Gary was kind, hard-working and committed to family. His selfless devotion allowed his Grandmother, Mary Shepherd, and both parents, Bob & Betty, to age at home as long as possible.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 P.M on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at St. Mary of the Lake Church, 5460 Mary Lake Road, Westport. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until the time of Mass. A Private family burial will follow.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be given to St. Mary of the Lake Church.

Gary was a wonderful neighbor and he will be greatly missed in our Mary Lake neighborhood. We would often have talks with Gary in our yard covering many subjects, including his family that he loved and admired.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

James S. | July 2020

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
