Obituaries

Madison-Gail F. Lachman-Solberg, age 67, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, December 11th, 2015. She was born August 5th, 1948, to Jerome and Pauline Lachman, in La Crosse, WI. Gail worked all her life in food service, employed by many restaurants and food services. She particularly enjoyed her employment at the Chi-Omega at UW-Madison cooking for the students. Gail was a giving, kind person, willing to help anyone in need and always with a smile. The main focus of her life was her family. She cherished her children and her husband Joe, and all animals, spending time feeding them outside her home. She loved her 11 brothers and sisters unconditionally and without reservation or judgement. To know her was to love her. She touched many lives with her kindness and she had friends, near and far, who loved her due to her sweet disposition in life. Gail was a selfless soul who stood up for the rights of all people who needed a voice and was a lifelong Democrat.

She was preceded in death by her son, Aaron Michael Slimmen; her parents, Jerome and Pauline Lachman; and former husband James Solberg.

She is survived by husband, Joe Zaleski of Madison; her daughter, Sarah (Aaron) Konkol of Madison; her son Peter Solberg of Minneapolis; and her siblings, Jerome (Bonnie) Lachman, Elizabeth (Kevin Buchholz) Woods, Mary Lachman Baldassare, Michael (Susan) Lachman, Fredrick (Pamela Williams) Lachman, Steven (Lisa) Lachman, Jane (Tom Buss) Lachman Buss, James Lachman, Christopher (Tammy) Lachman, Laurie (Dan Peterson) Lachman and Ann (Troy Steers) Lachman. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who she loved and adored and also by special lifelong best friend, Linda Mossholder (Slimmen).

A Celebration of Life for Gail will be held at a future date.
