Obituaries

MADISON – Francis Henry McDermott, age 85, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, April 2, 2017. Frank was born on September 18, 1931 to Henry Francis and Marie Agnes (Spellman) McDermott in Dodgeville, WI. He graduated from Barneveld High School in 1949. Frank joined the US Air Force at Truax Field from 1950 to 1953. He married the love of his life, Marie Olstad. Frank worked in the construction industry spending most of his career at Speedway Sand and Gravel as an Operating Engineer, retiring in 1994. Frank and Marie enjoyed their camping at Lake George where they made many long-lasting friendships. He also looked forward to deer hunting and spending time with his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. We will greatly miss our conversations with him and his sense of humor.

Frank is survived by his wife Marie; children, Sheri (Brad) Moore and Dan (Laurie); grandchildren, Hunter (Callie), Taylor, Mason, Anna, and Calum; great granddaughter, Willow. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He is preceded in death by granddaughter, MacKenzie Moore; siblings, Laverne, Burnell, Geraldine, Agnes, and Helene.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 8, 2017 at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, with Msgr. Charles Schluter presiding. A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until time of Mass on Saturday at the church.
