MADISON- Fernando Rivera, age 80, of Madison, died of cancer on September 11, 2016, at the Agrace HospiceCare Facitlity. Fernando was born in Cartago, Colombia, on September 20, 1935, to Leonardo Rivera and Francisca (Duran). On September 30, 1963, he married Rosalia Rivera, and they moved to Madison, WI in 1965. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.

He worked for St. Raphael’s Church, Oscar Mayer and WPS. He had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren. He was known for his love of family, generosity and his incredible devotion to God and his Catholic faith.

Fernando is survived by his wife of 52 years, Rosalia; their six children, Rosalia (Raymond) Boerke, Victoria (Joey) Brennan, Carmen (Brian) Reamer, Fernando (Biljana) Rivera, Alejandro (Patricia) Rivera and Eduardo (Pamela) Rivera; his twenty-one grandchildren, Angela, Alejandro, Victoria and Catherine Boerke, Lexie, Grace and Ana Brennan, Anthony, Matthew, Nicholas and Elisa Reamer, Hristina, Maria, Alex, and Leonardo Rivera, Julia, Andrew and Benjamin Rivera, and Isabella, Gabriela and Eduardo Rivera Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N. Sherman Ave., with Msgr. Charles Schluter presiding. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church on Thursday.
