Obituaries

VERONA – Esther H. Wing, age 87, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Saturday, December 9, 2023. Esther was born on December 2, 1936 in Oregon, WI to Walter and Marie (Richner) Hoffman. She attended one of the last one room schoolhouses in Dane County, Oak Hall. Later she graduated from Oregon High School in 1954. She attended UW Platteville, receiving a degree in elementary education. Esther married the love of her life, Robert Wing, July 7, 1957, in Oregon, WI. Her faith was an important part of her life and was active in numerous church activities. Esther enjoyed cooking, baking, crafting, gardening, playing cards, and entertaining family and friends. She took on the role of wife and mother with ease. She will always be known as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Esther is survived by her children, Laurie (Bill) Gadda, Rod (Lori), and Becka (Kirk) Johnson; daughter-in-law, Mary Jo; sisters-in-law, Jeannine and Carol Hoffman; brother-in-law, Dale Lervik; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 2 bonus great grandchildren. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Bob; son, Walter; siblings, Walter (Marge) Hoffman, Butch Hoffman, Ruby Hendrickson, and Linda Lervik; brother-in-law, Richard; grand son-in-law, Adam Bauer.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at ST. JAMES LUTHERAN CHURCH, 427 South Main Street, Verona, with Pastor Peter Narum presiding. A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of services on Saturday at the church. Private family burial at Sunset Memory Gardens on a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. James Lutheran Church building fund.
