Obituary For Elizabeth Treinen

Elizabeth (Betty) Treinen, age 84, passed away peacefully at home on July 25, surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born on November 10, 1939 to Albert and Mathilda (Dahmen) Ripp in Ashton. Betty married the love of her life, Gerald (Jerry) Treinen, on February 25, 1960 at Saint Peter’s Catholic Church.

Betty's greatest joy in life was spending time with Jerry, their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and watching them grow healthy and happy. Family and faith were everything to her. Along with family, her and Jerry spent countless hours playing cards or going to the casino with friends and siblings. She was “the lucky lady”. She rarely turned down a semi ride with Jerry. Gardening, canning, baking, sewing, and caring for her extended family was what she loved. Her faith was prevalent until the end and she could frequently be found at morning masses. If asked, she would tell you her greatest accomplishment in life is the love her and Jerry had and the family they created.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Jerry Treinen, of DeForest; seven children and 18 grandchildren: Vernon (Vicki) Treinen, children Heather (Chris) Novoselac and Amanda (Jake) Rostermundt; Cheryl (Jeff) Bollig, children Krista (Michael) Browne and Michael (Holly) Bollig; Joyce (Scott) Felicijan, children Hannah, Lauryn and Jaclyn (Ben Zacher); Diane (David) True, children Vanessa (Anthony) Ahrens, Jeremy (Kaylin Wilke) and Conner (Kayla Minard); Mary (Rick) Herschleb, children Rachael (Derek) Christiansen, Rebecca (Mark) Juedes, Rosemary (Konnor) Johnson and Reuben (Sydney) Herschleb; Lisa (Erik) Eid, children Emily and William; Keith (Terri) Treinen, children Wyatt and Eleanor; 22 great grandchildren; her siblings, Cathy (Bob) Niesen; Jim (Joanne) Ripp; Harold Schlimgen; Vera Statz; Mary (Ken) Breunig; Dave (Eunie) Ripp; her in-laws, Berdi (Walt) Kaegi; Carol (Dan) Maffet; Jim (Anita) Treinen; John (Carol) Treinen and many nieces and nephews.

Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Mathilda Ripp; infant sister, Laura Mae, and sister, Agnes Schlimgen; in-laws, Eugene and Lydia Treinen; brother in-law, Marv Statz.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 AM on Monday, July 29 at Saint Olaf’s Catholic Church, DeForest. A visitation will be held at St. Olafs from 3-7pm on Sunday, July 28 and before the service from 9:30-10:30am on Monday.

A special thank you to mom’s caretaker, Sarah Gabbei, from Right at Home for her continuous daily care. and Agrace Hospice Care since her July 1 colon cancer diagnosis.

Memorials may be directed to Alzheimer's Association, American Cancer Society or Agrace.

Jerry & family: My deepest sympathy on the death of Betty. She was such a beautiful, fun-loving lady, & always with that smile on her face. Jerry & Betty were some of the first people I met when I joined St Olaf all those years ago. Cherish your memories. ~Carole McCormick

A Memory: I lived with Betty Ripp before she was married when we both worked in Madison years and years ago! Her sister Kathy lived with us too. Can't remember the address but it was a block off the Square and a famous restaurant next door to us. We had so much fun together. I was married the same year on February 1960 and am the same age as Betty. Would think about her everytime we went past the Treinen farm on our way to Wautoma. Sympathy to the entire Treinen family. So many good memories with Betty at St Olaf. Such a fun lady, beautiful inside and out. So sorry for your loss, Jerry and all you wonderful kids. She hasn't been the same Betty the last few years, but I'll miss seeing her at church. Watch over us all Betty and rest in the loving arms of our merciful Savior.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

James S. | July 2020

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Michael M. | July 2020

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
