Obituary For Edward Linden Wisener Jr.

Madison - Edward Linden Wisener Jr., age 87, passed away on Monday, December 4, 2023, surrounded by loved ones.

Edward “Ed" was born on October 17, 1936 in Newark, OH to parents, Edward Wisener Sr. and Virginia (Devine) Wisener. Ed was blessed to have wonderful grandparents, Bill and Minnie, who helped raise him and instilled in him his love of reading. After graduating from high school, Ed joined the United States Air Force and was stationed at Traux Field in Madison. Thankfully he was stationed in Madison. That is where he met the love of his life Carol Mohrhauser. They shared 67 years of marriage.

After Ed was honorably discharged from the Air Force he had a long career in Retail. Ed and Carol were lucky to have traveled together taking many cruises, spending winters in Florida and visiting many countries. Ed enjoyed music, often playing Tom Jones at midnight! He loved planes and cars, making the family attend air shows or stop at car dealerships just to “look".

Ed had a strong faith. He was a long time member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church where he taught religious education which he truly enjoyed. For many years he was a Eucharistic minister for St. Mary’s hospital.

Ed is survived by his children, Carol Ann (Tom) Hewitt, William “Bill” (Michel) Wisener, Jean (Rick) Schroeder, and Penny (Nick Nepokroeff) Wisener; grandchildren, Michael (LeeAnn) Hewitt, Kristine (Nick) Pierick, Riley (Allison) Schroeder, Hilary (Joe) Daufenbach, Grace Nepokroeff, Max Nepokroeff, Wesley Wisener, and Sam Wisener; great grandchildren, Taylor, Donovan, Hunter, Parker, Madelyn, Decker, and Sophie; sister-in-law, Joanne Brown; and brother-in-law, Tom Vander Meulen. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, the love of his life, Carol; his daughter, Darlene Mary; father, Edward Sr (Dorothea); mother, Virginia (William) McCandlish; sisters, Virginia (Tom) Gilbert, Darlene (Dave) Persinger; brother-in-law, William Brown; sister-in-law, Jean Vander Meulen; and a niece, Nancy Beumel

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at ST. PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5001 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, WI, with Fr. Michael Resop presiding. A visitation will take place one hour prior to Mass, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Condolences

  • December 09, 2023

My condolences go out to the whole Wisener family. Your dad was one kind man filled with mischief and fun. He always had that ornery smile that would make you wonder. I have so many fond memories of him as I was growing up and would spend some time In the summer up in Madison. "Dad Wisener" was always welcoming and I will always cherish my time spent with him. Rest in peace. Love to All, Renee (Gepfrey) Ghiloni

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

James S. | July 2020

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Michael M. | July 2020

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
