Madison-

Donna K. (Kleman) Smith passed away June 22, 2018 at the age of 73 at Epione Pavilion Memory Care Unit, Cuba City, Wisconsin; where she had been a resident since 2015.

Donna was born January 28, 1945 to William and “Liz” Elizabeth (Wardrop) Klemen in Portage, Pennsylvania. She attended Mt. Aloysius College and then graduated from Penn State.

She married Capt. Kent W. Smith in 1971 and shared 43 years of marriage at the time of his passing in 2014. They were blessed with the birth of their daughter Margaret.

Donna enjoyed her work as a medical technician for 15 years in the Madison area until her retirement. Her hobbies were horseback riding, and sailing. Her true passion was reading and writing romance novels, and published numerous books under the pen name of “Liz Hunter”.

She is survived by her daughter, Margaret D. (Cory) Haglund, grandchildren, Elena and Henry Haglund. Sisters: Barbara Ramos, Betty (John) Whitcomb, Judy (Robert) Bastianelli, Linda (John) Alarid, and sisters-in-law Martha (Ed) Burns, and Christine Smith along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Kent, and brother-in-law Alan Smith.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at St. Christopher Parish, St. Andrew Catholic Church, 301 N. Main Street, Verona with Fr. John Sasse officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Ryan Funeral Home, 220 Enterprise Drive, Verona. Burial will be at Sunset Memory Gardens, Madison, WI.
