Obituary For David “Dave” Henry Bodoh

On Monday, April 3, 2023, David “Dave” Henry Bodoh, 74, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Madison, Wisconsin. The youngest of four boys, David was born to Clair and Anna Bodoh on April 5, 1948. He married Christine Trulson in 1987.

In 1966, David graduated from Abbot Pennings High School (now Notre Dame Academy) in De Pere, WI. He graduated from UW Madison in 1971 with a degree in accounting. For more than thirty years, he worked as an accountant for the State of Wisconsin in the Department of Health Services, retiring in 2009.

David was known for his warmth, loving and generous spirit, infectious laugh, engaging smile, and love of dad jokes. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle, husband, and father who loved spending time with his family. Genealogy was of great interest to him, and he accumulated vast amounts of family history and photos. While he enjoyed reading and other hobbies, David was most passionate about gardening.

His Catholic faith was of utmost importance to David. He was a long-time member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. For several years, he played in St. Peter’s bell choir with his daughter. David is survived by his wife, Christine; daughter, Amanda; brothers, Theodore, and Gerald; several siblings-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Leonard; mother- and father-in-law, a sister-in-law, and a brother-in-law.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at St. Peters Catholic Church, 5001 N Sherman Ave, Madison, WI. There will be a visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of mass, with a luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter’s Catholic Church at 5001 N. Sherman Ave, or St. Paul’s Catholic Center at 723 State St, both in Madison, Wisconsin.

Condolences

We are so sad to hear of Dave's passing. Sending Chris and Amanda our deepest condolences. In addition to being a friendly neighbor and a skilled gardener, it was always clear to us what a loving father and husband Dave was. We are keeping his family in our thoughts. - John Lutz and family

I worked with Dave for several years in the Medicaid program at 1 W. Wilson. He was always enjoyable to be with. I haven't seen him for many years but am sad to find it won't happen again. He was a good guy.

Goodbye, Dave. You were a loving, generous family man. I will remember your wonderful smile. I will especially remember our Fourth of July times with you and your family. Hugs to Mandy and Chris. May God be with you.

I was blessed to be a classmate of Dave's at Abbot Pennings High School. He was a sweet guy, brimming with kindness and humor. Through the years, every now and then, we would touch base and his spirit would always make me smile. He was a man of great grace. I will miss him as all his classmates will. My condolences to Christine, Amanda and his entire family.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
