FITCHBURG/VERONA – Clifford Frank Hageman, age 87, passed away on October 27, 2024 at St. Mary’s Care Center in Madison, WI. He was born on April 4, 1937 in Madison, WI to parents, Frank and Anna (Elmer) Hageman.

Clifford was a life-long resident of Verona, raised on Fitchrona Road and a 1955 graduate of Verona High School. He was married to Carla Mae Tande on February 1, 1958. After serving in the United States National Guard, Clifford continued his family’s tradition of farming. As a third-generation dairy farmer, he farmed on the Henry Maurer Farm before he purchased his own farm on Highway M in 1962. He then purchased a second farm; raising hogs and beef, which led him into raising cash crop and grain.

Clifford enjoyed sports. He loved watching college basketball and was a dedicated Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan. He was an active bowler for over 20 years.

Above all, his family was important to him and he cherished family gatherings at the homestead. He took pride in helping his neighbors and sharing sweet corn with the neighborhood. Clifford always had a story to tell and he enjoyed the occasional polka in the barn. He will be remembered for his kindness and helping hands.

Clifford is survived by his children, Clayton (Angie) Hageman, Ann (Eric) Nelson, Daryl Hageman, Debra (Gary) Briggs, Kay (Duane) Bongard, Connie (David) McCullough; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; brother, John (Helen) Hageman; former son-in-law, Dale Chestnut; and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Hageman; father, Frank (Dorothy) Hageman; wife, Carla Hageman; and brother Doug Hageman.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 2, 2024 at Salem United Church of Christ, 501 Mark Dr., Verona, WI. A visitation will take place one hour prior to service, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Verona Cemetery.
