In Loving Memory of Carol Anne Hill
Carol Anne Hill, 78, of Madison, WI, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones at Saint Mary's Care Center in Madison, WI. She was born on April 11, 1946 in Platteville, WI, the eldest child of Ray and Doris (Spink) Hill.
Carol spent her school years in Platteville and graduated from Platteville High School in 1964. After high school, she married Cletus Linden and worked a series of jobs while raising her boys, John and Todd. In 1972 Carol married Theodore Stenzel and had two daughters, Tracie and Rachelle. Carol was a hard worker; first helping to raise her brothers and sisters, and then her own children. Education was always a priority for her and she earned an Associate’s degree in Marketing from MATC in 1983. She worked for many years at the Wisconsin Department of Health and Human services and became a computer programmer. In 1995 she began working as a programmer at the Wisconsin Department of Revenue. She retired in 2004 and spent her retirement days working on her passions.
Carol had passions of birdwatching, photography, painting, gardening, canning produce, and cooking - something her children also love to do today. Her salsa recipe is legendary among family and friends. She was known for her infectious laughter and her remarkable ability to handle life's toughest challenges with grace and strength. Carol was a loving and hard-working mother who learned as she went along. She was always around to help out family and also loved to mentor other strong young women. Her warmth and strength touched everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her children Todd (Brook) Linden, and Rachelle (Justin) Lemke, and her grandchildren Collin, Trevor, Shelby, Zachary and Julia as well as by her brother and sisters Rickie (Marlin) Harms, Peggy (Mark) Yanke, Mary (John) Pringle, Joan Hill, David Hill, sister in law Dorothy Hill and Aunt Jean Duncan.
She was preceded in death by her Grandparents Arthur and Marguerite (Funk) Hill; Clarence and Mildred (Riege) Spink; Father, Mother, Brother John Hill; her children John Linden and Tracie Millage; and other beloved aunts, uncles and dear pets.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 220 Enterprise Dr., Verona at 2 pm. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1 pm until the time of service. A private interment will follow
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Saint Mary's Care Center for their exceptional care and support over the years. At SMCC, Carol will always be known as a woman with spirit who really loved her strawberry waffles and dessert. Carol's presence brightened our lives, and her absence leaves a profound void. Her spirit, laughter, and love will continue to inspire us every day. She may be gone, but she will never be forgotten.
Memorial donations may be made in Carol’s name to St. Mary’s Care Center and to the Dementia Society of America.
