Obituary For Bruce Matthew John Tulpo

Bruce Matthew John Tulpo, age 85, passed away on March 17, 2024 in his home in Madison WI. Bruce was born on Oct. 18, 1938 to parents Ferdinand Tulpo and Alice Julia Kehus in Chicago. He graduated from Palmyra-Eagle high school in 1956 in Palmyra WI, and went on to graduate UW-Lacrosse, with additional degrees in English later in life. As a natural mediator, he taught in the WI public school system for many years and then chose to teach with the WI Dept. of Corrections, helping teach many who had slipped through the cracks. Bruce was an avid collector of many things with a keen eye for kitsch and loved to go to UW badger basketball games/banquets, and daytrips across WI with his wife Joyce. Bruce kept everyone of all stripes on their toes with his sharp wit and sense of humor and believed in the simple philosophy of tolerance for all. He will be sadly missed by many. Bruce is survived by his children, son Trent Tulpo of Madison; grandson Tim Tulpo; daughter Opal Tulpo and husband Paul Nelson of LaCrosse; granddaughter Violet Nelson; son Bart Tulpo of Madison; brother-in-law James Carpenter: and many nieces and nephews. Bruce is preceded in death by his parents; wife Joyce Helene Tulpo; sister Grace Carpenter; and brother-in-law Jim Heins. Bruce was cremated and a celebration of his life will be held on a forthcoming date. Life is something; Death is nothing. Carpe' Momentum.

I really respected Bruce as a fellow teacher at Columbia Correctional Institution near Portage WI. He truly was a professional with perfect English Grammar. Sincerely yours, William E Kuenzi Jr.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
