Blanche grew up in Lavalle, WI on the family farm. She was the youngest in her family of four brothers, Virgil, Bill, Clarence, and Fred and four sisters, Irene, Elizabeth, Leona, and Lorraine. Throughout Blanche’s life she has cared for people by working in hospitals and finally retiring from Central Colony in Madison where she had worked for 35 years. In retirement, Blanche continued to help others by knitting and crocheting lap quilts for veterans, prayer shawls, hats for preemies and hats for cancer patients and soldiers. Blanche was also a member of the American Legion Unit 243.
Despite severe chronic back and leg pain, she always tried to help those in need. She always was friendly and cheerful, despite her own health issues. Blanche loved knitting, crocheting, drawing, cooking and gardening. She had a pet cat named Buffy for 23 years and after he passed, she got two kittens who she called her new little children. She loved animals and flowers.
