Obituary For Blanche Clara Herritz

MADISON - Blanche Herritz, age 87, passed away on January 1, 2023. She has four children, Kathy Jean (Russ) Doebert, Pam Krueger, Reggie (Tammy), and Susan (Dave) Specht. Blanche grew up in Lavalle, WI on the family farm. She was the youngest in her family of four brothers, Virgil, Bill, Clarence, and Fred and four sisters, Irene, Elizabeth, Leona, and Lorraine. Blanche married Milton Herritz and moved to Madison. She deeply loved Milton and cared for him during his battle with cancer until his death on October 27, 2012. She also had a young granddaughter, Angela Krueger, who passed away.

Throughout Blanche’s life she has cared for people by working in hospitals and finally retiring from Central Colony in Madison where she had worked for 35 years. In retirement, Blanche continued to help others by knitting and crocheting lap quilts for veterans, prayer shawls, hats for preemies and hats for cancer patients and soldiers. She has always helped people at her church by working at the food pantry, lefse dinners, singing in the church choir and helping with alter guild. Blanche was also a member of the American Legion Unit 243.

Despite severe chronic back and leg pain, she always tried to help those in need. She always was friendly and cheerful, despite her own health issues. Blanche loved knitting, crocheting, drawing, cooking and gardening. She had a pet cat named Buffy for 23 years and after he passed, she got two kittens who she called her new little children. She loved animals and flowers.

Blanche Herritz was a loving mother who was greatly loved and admired by her children and grandchildren, including, April Doebert Fischer, Ashley Doebert, Adam Doebert, Crystal, Richard, and Sara Schmid, Zach, Jordan, Ryan and Suzie Herritz, and Heather and Rachel Specht and great grandchildren. Blanche was a positive role model to everyone she met. Her generosity and kindness will be missed by her family and friends. She was a beautiful and gracious person who now sings in God’s heavenly choir.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
