Obituary For Audrey Susan Troemner

Audrey Susan Troemner, age 100, of DeForest, Wisconsin, passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at Oakwood Village in Madison, Wisconsin.

The daughter of Arthur and Elsie (Neitzel) Short, Audrey was born on April 1, 1924, in Granton, Wisconsin, and was raised on the family farm. She graduated from Granton High School in 1941 and then attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point with a degree in teaching education. Audrey enjoyed teaching children of all ages and pursued her vocation at schools in Wausau, Milwaukee, and Madison.

Audrey met Allan Troemner at a local dance and in June of 1959 they were united in marriage. They lived in Madison for a short time while their future home was being built in DeForest, and Audrey continued teaching until they started a family.

She enjoyed living in the country with their children and spending time outside in her gardens tending to her flowers. Audrey was active in the local 4-H organization when her children were young, and she was also a member of the Homemakers of America organization for many years. In addition, Audrey helped Allan with their small part-time tree nursey and orchard business they operated on their property.

Audrey will be dearly missed by her two sons Scott Troemner of DeForest, Wisconsin, Greg (Lori) Troemner of Sylvania, Ohio, and her daughter Rosemary (Wayne) Shelley of Merritt Island, Florida; her four grandchildren, Matthew (Claire) Troemner, Jodi (Jake) Crawley, Mark (Staci) Phelps, and Susie (Doug) Vashro; her seven great-grandchildren, Deni (Brian) McDonald, Savannah (Hamilton) Thomson, Oliver and Owen Phelps, Mackenzie, Alaina and Elizabeth Vashro, and her three great-great-grandchildren Malachi, Atticus and Atreyu McDonald.

Audrey was preceded in death by her husband Allan Troemner, her parents Arthur and Elsie (Neitzel) Short, and her sister Elaine Short.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, May 29 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Ryan Funeral Home, 6924 Lake Road, DeForest, Wisconsin. Burial services will be held at Norway Grove Cemetery immediately following the visitation.

Condolences

  • June 01, 2024

I was a kid living across the road when the country home was being built. That was in the early 60s. I have a lot of fond memories from her. Sorry to hear of her passing David Hultman

Sorry for your loss Rose. Living to 100 is real blessing. You must have been a very good girl by making her life worth living.

Audrey was a striking women of grace, dignity and angular stature. A model for her family, devoting her life to others. I smile as I look back upon my fond memories of Audrey from my teen years with Rosemary. Condolences to all.

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
