Obituary For Alvin "Al" Scott Davis

Alvin Scott Davis went to be with the Lord Jesus on Thursday, February 27, 2025. He was 82 years old, born on August 26, 1942 in Hollywood, California. He was the second of three children born to Vance Scott Davis and Laurel Pauline Davis. On July 6, 1975 he married Patricia “Trish” Ann Rhea in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. They lived a beautiful, adventurous life together, best friends, working side by side, always walking with her hand in his for 50 years.

Al enjoyed woodworking, running, music, volunteering, visiting the National Parks and being with family and friends. He was a quiet man but his unselfish kindness spoke volumes about his character in all he did.

He was patient, never complaining, always putting others needs before his own. No matter the situation he would be there to help sharing his love and faith with the works of his beautiful hands and the generosity of his heart. He was a source of strength and dependability to anyone who was blessed to know him. Almost every memory of him is one of him helping, fixing, or building something for someone and those memories will remain locked in my heart along with the gratitude for God's gift of him.

Al is survived by his wife Patricia “Trish”, God's blessing of Katie and Robert Zipsie, his daughter Elaine C. Smith, his son and daughter-in-law Daniel S. Davis and April Davis, his 5 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, his sister and brother-in-law Claudia and Robert Cannell, his brother and sister-in-law Terrance and Charlea Davis. He had a large extended family of in-laws, nieces and nephews and friends who he loved, laughed with and prayed for, wanting only the best for them.

He is preceded in death by his parents Vance S. and Laurel P. Davis, and son-in-law Billy Smith.

In 1988 Al was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. In 2003 he had a stroke that left him unable to sit up, but with the love and prayers of family and friends he recovered and went on to continue with fixing and building. One of the songs he loved through some of those times of recovery was "Press On" by the vocal group Selah. The words of the song perfectly fit his attitude towards any problem. He always gave the glory and honor to God for the strength and healing to get him through.

Two of his favorite scriptures:

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works so that no man can boast. For we are God's workmanship created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God has prepared in advance for us to do.”

Ephesians 2:8-10

“Whatever you do, work it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men. It is the Lord you are serving.”

Colossians 3: 23-24

what our families say

Tiffany Foster went out of her way to fulfill all my requests, talked me through problems I was facing, and tried to make me feel as comfortable as possible when I was a wreck, totally crushed, and I thank her with all of my heart for that.

The professional manner of the staff made a difficult time a little easier.

Lynda R. | July 2020

Services provided for both parents were perfect, on time, and no issues. Brenda is awesome and strong!

Michael M. | July 2020

Skyler was absolutely amazing. She was so caring and helpful through this whole process. She even went above and beyond to meet with us in DeForest and even to make a stop at our home to drop off or pick up anything needed. While it was a small gesture, it was so helpful and greatly appreciated.
